Re: All Things Denver XXXII

:o Embarassment :o

The boys did not show up last night. Need a much better effort. Even though DU was missing 5 of its top players, that is not an excuse for last night's performance. I expect a totally different team to take the ice tonight. They have pretty much shot themselves in the foot in the pairwise as they are now tied for 20th with UNO and UND. If any game is a must win, tonight's is.

As a UNO fan, I would just like to welcome you guys to the club. Here's a beer.

Stings. We need more than beer. This team is psychotic. Gotta hand it to the Chargers. What a way to celebrate the resurrection of their program. Gwoz's protegees came in and out coach the master.

I feel your pain, too, DU fan. I saw this and about sh*t my pants. Now, some thoughts I've had about them seem to have some vindication. Maybe everybody might understand why we've lost two games to these guys in the last two years, going 2-2 against them despite outshooting them 190-82 in the 4 games.

Saunders and Roy are pretty good players (both being instrumental in our two losses to these guys that last two seasons) and Saunders is a great example of how a great goalie can win you games, even if you are an eagle flying with a flock of turkeys. Hmmmm. Can't understand why North Dakota would want this guy.

UNO outshot UAH 59-17 last January 29th in a 2-1 loss in what was then the Qwest Center in Omaha. That was the most shots allowed by any team in D-1 last year in a win, the most shots by any team in D-1 in a loss, and the most shots by any D-1 team in a game last year and set UNO team records in the first two categories as well. It was a complete shooting gallery on Saunders. UAH had no business winning the game. They did so entirely because of him. The most P.O.'ed I have ever been leaving a UNO game. I wish Saunders played for us.

Hats off to UAH who, even if they suck, don't know the meaning of the word quit. Same goes for their program, apparently.

16th in the poll--first time out of the top 15 since 2006.

Deserved. They sure have dug themselves a big hole. They probably need to win 10 of their last 14, and get to the F5 to make the tourny. Time for Gwoz's "special" team to act like one.

I agree they are going to need 10 to 12 wins with only 14 games to go. That has to start with getting 4 points against BSU this weekend. They will probably have to win their first round WCHA series and 1 or 2 games in St. Paul to get in. The boys have their work cut out for themselves.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Margin for error approaching zero. Now, instead of confidence DU would roll into the FF, there's significant doubt they'll even make the tournament. Man, that sucks.

Oh well, I guess we can't be great every year. It is just hockey after all.

Excuse me for just a minute, I have to go jump out my window.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

We all hope that is a first floor window...

Yes, I am on the first floor. There aren't too many tall buildings in Maine, wait, there are no tall buildings in Maine, just tall pine trees.

No, I'm not giving up on this team yet. I survived the early 80s at DU, I can definitely handle this. I do have to wonder if our injury situation had been different where would we be right now.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

In the old days, Murray used to front load the schedule with road games. So when DU started out 6-4-2, people would be wondering whether the club was any good or not. Then the customary 17 or 18 game home winning streak would start and all would be forgiven.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

If anyone is interested I have tickets for sale for saturday's game. The tickets are in section 1 row 4. They are right behind both benches and actually in the first row of the section. You also are right next to the tunnel for the away team. The face value is $28/ each so make your best offer.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Pairwise has DU ranked @ 18 and Bemidji State @ 22. Should be an exciting weekend.
