Re: All Things Denver XXXII

I wouldn't count on that! :D But don't worry - I'm sure DUmien will ban that imposter sooner than later.

Also, someone over on DG's troll hole said that you were the king of the trolls. I'm not sure that's fair.

Oh sure, you start offering hot tub parties and I move to the top of the list for the haters. Or maybe it was the threat of unleashing your army of bastard zombie children that's gotten you safe passage.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

I understand. But even a whelp occasonally deserves to be kicked. Go to a couple of games. Sniff a few jocks. And suddenly he's the gatekeeper for who is an is not an "approved" fan and what they're permitted to say.

We know who the true fans on here are..

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Best of luck to Denver the rest of the way. It was a real treat chatting with you guys this week, hopefully our paths cross in the tournament this year so I can buy you all a beer.

Thanks. You guys hung in there even though you went down quickly. Not sure why your coach started the F goalie tonight. Strange move given how solid and how much playing time your Sophomore has seen. Good luck tomorrow in the Springs.

Here's my nomination for King of the Trolls. He posted this immediately after the USA loss today:

Thanks for the shout out BBM. Love being called a troll by you. BTW, I was mistaken, JZ won't be home early, the US will play in the relegation round. That sounds like fun. For now, you'll have to wait to see your boy friend.

Dmann's News Years' hopes

1- These two wins have helped us big time in the PWR rankings.
2- Our chances for an NCAA bid have dramatically improved as a result of this past weekend.
3- Sam Brittain comes back.
4- John Ryder comes back
5- Beau Bennett comes back
6- We have a monster 2nd half.
7- Ty Loney becomes the surprise recruit of the year
8- CC self destructs (sorry CC fans, I couldn't help it)
9- Jason Zucker wins the Hobie
10- Jason Zucker and Beau Bennett don't go pro next year.
11- DU does what we were predicted to do this season and kick *** in the NCAAs

Is this too much to ask??

Happy New Year!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Congrats on the game last night and good luck the rest of the way. You really crushed us last night. No one has even come close to dominating AFA in the past few years like you did. It was like a flashback to the 90s for us die-hard fans.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Congrats DU, that was painful! Regardless, I hope we can strike up actual series with you and CC when the new conference starts. One game is not enough, especially when we are so close together as schools...

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Happy New Year Pio Fans!

Here are some random noticings from the weekend.

Great start to the second half. The focus on D lead to much smarter puck handling and 10 goals! Gone was the stupid forced pass behavior so prevalent in the first half. Gwoz was quoted as saying that as the weekend went on you could see them buying in more and more to the adjustments. You could feel the confidence growing. Drew Shore really stepped up. He was all over the ice and always knew actually where the puck was-really fun to watch. The PP was super productive. Nick was really strong on face-offs both nights. Goal scoring was spread out. Great to see Luke and Chris get on the board. Chris's shot from the point last night was a rocket. Johnie Lee was laughing about it when he hugged him on the blue line. The 6-3 last night was crazy. I think both the players and fans of the Cadets were caught by surprise by the game face we had last night as well as our talent. Congrats to the seniors on going 4-0 against the Air Force--impressive!

We won two key non-conference games and now have a fairly light schedule in January. BSU is the one tougher team that we face. I'm glad that it's home and that we already split a series with them. The boys should be up for the series and ready for the sweep.

Some questions. One question is just like it was going into this weekend is: What do the lines (as well as the PP) look like the next two weeks? The first line this weekend (Drew, Luke and Ty) looked really tight. Does Gwoz bust that up and put JZ back with Drew and Luke or does he move him down to the second? I'd like to see 17 play with Nick. I think Nick would be a good match for his style. He is so good at passing the puck to open players. Who sits down? Tabrum and Olezewski both played well this weekend. What was up with #10 this weekend? He looked like his flow was all out of whack. Sick? Will Wade get any ice time this month? Down the road the goal tending situation will have to be answered. Will it be Sam and UC rotating with Adam sitting?

The weekend was a big success. We looked the best we have since the opening weekend in Boston. More like a team then we have all year. Long way to go and lots of injury variables at play as we move towards the Feb/March time frame but the launch to second half went better than many of us expected.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Bump, any word on our injured players?
Per Chambers

DU fifth-year defenseman John Ryder is expected to return from a serious knee injury for the Jan. 27-28 series at Alaska-Anchorage. The hard-nosed defender from Colorado Springs fractured his left kneecap in three places Oct. 19 against Nebraska Omaha.

"I just got clearance to bend it — a little bit," Ryder said. "We'll get X-rays this week, and the plan is to (return later this month)."

Ryder could begin riding a stationary bike next week. The Pioneers are idle the weekend after a Jan. 13-14 series against Bemidji State, at which time Ryder likely will begin skating.

Sophomore goalie Sam Brittain, who had major knee surgery June 17 and has yet to play this season, might begin practicing with the team by the Bemidji State series.

"I don't feel we've had our full team the whole year, but we've really battled and showed some resilience," DU co-captain Dustin Jackson said.

Just to give you guys a bit of the inside scoop, Denver was voted College Hockey Weekly's Team of the Week for this past weekend, and the write-up should be online by the end of the day. I'll post the link when it is ready.
