Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Just to give you guys a bit of the inside scoop, Denver was voted College Hockey Weekly's Team of the Week for this past weekend, and the write-up should be online by the end of the day. I'll post the link when it is ready.

Thanks for the heads up! The team came to play last weekend even though they were shorthanded due to injuries and the WJC. Looking forward to a strong second half. Home series against UAH this weekend. Even though they have a poor record, they gave UNO a run for their money recently. Gwoz is not letting the team take them lightly and said so in his press conference on Tuesday. He expects UAH to compete hard this weekend and expects his team to do the same. Jason Zucker will not play this weekend as he has been given time off after the WJC and has gone home to Las Vegas until returning to school next week. He will play in the Bemidji series.

Have we ever played these guys before?

Ha ha, I guess I forgot the team, but the name is memorable. Some interesting comments from the stands when "Hiscock" went to the box (penalty box).

Yeah...many of those were from me most likely...I remember that game as being one of the most boring. Even Adam Berkhoel was bored out of his mind. There was a stoppage in the 2nd period...he had face MAYBE 5 shots all game...he had his mask up for a second and he looked at me as I was sitting on the glass...shook his head and mouthed something about how bored he was.

It really was a boring game.

I'll take this opportunity to give thanks for Berkhoel's performance down the stretch in 04. Without 04, maybe we don't win in 05. Without those two years, we'd be nearing 45 YEARS since our last championship. Just some random thankfulness for DU seizing the opportunities when they had them. I thought we would have had another championship by now--the fact that we don't, goes to show how special those championships are. Berkhoel, Mannino, Stastny, James, Caldwell, Gauthier, Carle--DU legends for their efforts. I hope Zucker, D. Shore, Bennett and Juho(!) can join that list.

Some DU alums have gotten a banner made for injured Minnesota high school hockey player Jack Jablonski and it will be available for signing at this Saturday's game at Magness against UAH. The DU Team and staff will sign the banner and then the public will have their chance. The banner will be delivered to Jack when he is able to receive visitors, hopefully, next week.

Don't know if DU & UAH have played before, but the older DU fans should see a face they know behind the UAH bench - DU alum Gavin Morgan.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

My god, can your announcers be any more condenscending? What asswipes, you simply got outplayed.

We belong in the NCHA :)

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Wow, just totally embarassing. Nice job getting the team ready to play, Gwoz. Don't blame this on the team playing down to opponent's level. That's on the coaches and captains. No fire. No pride on the home ice. Unbelievable.

Re: All Things Denver XXXII

Ha! DU (or is Metro State) got beat by Huntsville at Magness!! Pio's are the laughing stock of all.....that is college hockey. Wow!! LOL!!
