2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

And the bast4rds got him to resign his candidacy on National Ice Cream Day. Kill the man in two ways, jerks!

Seriously though, I’m so disappointed that it’s come to this. Democrats need to start taking stock of the party machinations, perhaps a party mole could officially out the donors rather than let it remain accurate speculation.

Is the you, Joe Manchin?

Sickening. Not because I don't back her, I do, but because as someone posted earlier, the coup leaders aren't even trying to hide themselves.

The donors forced Biden to do the right thing. They didn't create the need for him to step aside.

We are defending the world against a fascist USA, and every legal means is legitimate. We could fight them with conventional weapons, but that would take years and cost millions of lives. I'd rather fight dirty and win now, and obviate the need to fight bloody later when they start kicking down doors.

What laws govern how a political party chooses its own candidate?

Joe Biden’s delegates are now unbound and can basically vote for any eligible person at the convention.

Isn’t the lack of laws the issue? We’ll see how it plays out but don’t think it’s as cut and dried as people would like to believe. There are plenty of wacky judges out there.

Dems Pull Off Successful Insurrection | Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON DC — The Democratic Party in the United States has pulled off a successful insurrection, completing a coup d'etat to remove the current President from power.

"The President has fallen!" cried Democratic party elites joyfully, having seized power. "Yay insurrection!"

According to sources, Democratic party elites have worked tirelessly to overthrow the candidate chosen by voters, using everything from donation boycotts to blackmail. "It took everything we have, but we have deposed the democratically elected candidate of our party," said former President Obama proudly. "Democracy has been saved."

At publishing time, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough had come on TV to explain how some insurrections are actually very good.

Are people sure naming her the nominee even works legally?

There are no laws per se when it comes to how a political party runs its business picking a nominee. So, legality has nothing to do with it. There are rules and procedures the party puts into place, but how strongly they are held and how "legally" binding they are is very much unknown. Essentially, the party can do what it wants. They may produce a PR disaster taking that attitude, but it's not illegal.

For crying out loud, judges will have no say in it whatsoever. There has to be an actual law that was broken for any case to be brought to a judge in the first place. You're just grasping at straws.

I don't like what happened, but as others pointed out, technically Biden was not the nominee, yet. Not by the rules of the party. So, technically, not even party procedures were broken.

I get what you are saying. I mostly don't disagree with you.

But, it was a coup. Call it by any name you want, but it was a coup.

Tim Walz runs the rules committee...if this wasn't legal he would have stopped it.

You can call it what it is...a coup. It's a coup you endorse but it's still a coup.

In the end it will be the right move.

I’ll vote for her.

I figured you might. I got the feeling you were surprised how far Donnie went last time, along with the courts. You don’t strike me as someone who thinks women should have rights taken, and you probably care a lot about finances, and the economic plans of the dictator are not good.

No, it wasn’t.

No one held a gun to Biden’s head and made him drop out.

Actually they kind of did. Word is Pelosi gave him like 3 weeks to improve his numbers or things (i.e. pressure) would get way worse. Not from the media from the party.

Again in the end it is right but had the screws put to him.

Leaders of the Progressive and Hispanic Caucuses join the endorsement fray.

In the spirit of forgiveness I'm checking out MSNBC...they have mentioned Trump more in 30 minutes than the last 3 weeks. They are eviscerating him and Vance.

Biden, the Clintons, 26 Senators, 74 US Reps and 9 Governors along with almost all 50 state party chairs, and national convention delegations from LA, NC, NH, SC, TN and Denton Co., TX have now endorsed VP Kamala Harris.

An actual coup would have been a literal gun

Yeah, at this point basically one person has the vast majority of pledged delegates but changed their mind about running, so you now have (nearly) all unpledged delegates, plus I guess there's still super-delegates too. Nothing technically happens until the roll call at the convention. Though even if Biden had stayed in, nothing technically would have happened until the roll call at the convention either. The main difference being, the delegates would still be pledged then to vote for Biden, with whatever level of bindingness that ever had, damned if I know. The candidate can release pledged delegates at any time as far as I'm aware; we've seen second place finishers like Hillary in 2008 release their during the roll call to give a sense of unanimity. Of course, the person in first releasing theirs is a new thing. So until the convention I guess they're technically unpledged and can do whatever they want; they could all change their minds at the convention I suppose; but I think the delegates all realize time's-a-wastin' and it's good to get behind a single person sooner rather than later. And if anyone was for all intents and purposes on the primary ballot with Biden when people voted in their primaries this spring, it was Harris, so she is by far the most logical, reasonable, and fairest person to endorse and gather behind. But again, nothing as far as I am aware is in stone until the actual convention.

Pretty sure superdelegates dont have a say anymore because the nomination happened. Could be wrong.

Since Biden is now a short timer...let's have dome Joe! Anything you have put off doing now is the time!
