It's not "perfectly ok" But I just don't give a shit.

Lots of perfectly nice people get killed every day. Sweet, charming, generous people. This guy might have been great with his family. But his social media shows an angry, hateful person. So I just don't give a shit that he got killed.

Two old white women at my work discussing how old Biden is, then pivot and talk about how much of a fraud JD Vance is. And then one of them says “I voted for Trump the first two times…but I just can’t now.”
Are the Democrats calling on Biden to drop out looking at the same polls I’m looking at? If Trump becoming a martyr without dying, coupled with Biden being played up in the media as a demented, doddering old fool only gets Trump to 47% as his current high water mark, where’s the other 3% coming from? I know he doesn’t need 50% to win- 47% was enough in 2016- but if he can’t even get a majority in the polls right now…

The Democrats are getting their information from the media...the ones who talk to their constituents tend to change their tune. It doesn't help that the media takes every meeting the Dems have as being some hardcore "will they/won't they" about Biden. To the media everything is a sign they want him out. They were going to move up the nomination...that was because of worries about Biden. They now moved it back, obviously that is so they can decide what to do about Biden. Its like a conspiracy theory everything proves the narrative they have in their head. (Schiff being spineless isn't helping and his voters are not pleased)

Almost all of the smoke is nothing...if dissention was as high as the media pretends it is they wouldn't be waiting, they would do the vote now and show he doesn't have the support.

And you are right...usually a convention nets you 2-3 point bump even if you suck. Add in the attempt he should be riding high like the New York Times did the poll! That he can barely tread water is a massive red flag. And if you squint a bit you can kind of see some in the media are starting to notice that. Adding Vance also killed their "unifying" narrative so they need to find something to talk about.

Speaking of, last night and today I did see the tone change a bit. On social media I saw clips of MSNBC and CNN where they did not just nod and smile as the GOP bloviated and lied. Rumors are MSNBC is getting railed pretty hard by the GOPers in the building and with the Morning Joe fiasco and their disintegrating ratings they seemed to have finally had the fever break. Even clowns on CNN like Dana Bash were pushing back. Plus I think they figured out they were getting played because right after they would interview someone they would go on Newsmax and spout the exact opposite...especially about how the Dems tried to kill Trump.

We need to stay the course...if we vote we win. Full stop.

Really would love to know what happened to Stewart. I was initially excited about him returning...but Jesus that show has been terrible

I think he got used to doing his Apple show...which at times was quite good. Problem is the comedy aspect mostly sucked and he really leaned into being more serious. He abandoned the satire. Now he is back on TDS and his satire is just old and tired. He brings nothing new to the conversation. Back then he was the only one doing it...now others are doing it and they are doing it better and funnier.

And it isn't age...cause Colbert is 60 and he still crushes it. Stewart just seems so...late to the party now. He should have either never quit or never come back.

Well, you seem to think that people should care that this guy was killed, and that sounds like you think people should give a shit.

Look, I'm not taking pleasure in his death, like the MAGAts would the death of a liberal, but to paraphrase his cult leader, the guy knew what he signed up for. They want Civil War. Well, people get killed in wars, even the ones on your(his)side. Be careful what you wish for.

When I saw that this morning I wondered if any media types would discuss it. Havent had a chance to check but I aint holding my breathe ;)
 
Here's the question:

How does Dumpy getting shot sway someone who is on the fence? How does it flip a voter?

Reality in the world we live in is that it doesn't.

Dump doesn't get sympathy and he isn't using the attempt on him to push a specific point in his agenda ( like if he used it to emphasize an anti-gun stance for example). He's not even using it to strengthen his "Back the Blue" narrative that R's love.

So again, how do the events of the last week move voter's around?

This is right on point. He already burned through his sympathy on it (just like when he got COVID) and his party is doing nothing but pushing the hard MAGA message instead of even pretending to want unity. The media was all ready to crown him Caesar and applaud the New Empire...and the GOP couldn't even hold it together for a few days until after the convention. I think Vance was the last straw...

Nice work Nikki Haley...from the sounds of it even your fans and supporters hate you now. You sold out, burned bridges and couldn't even get elected as dog catcher in Charleston as a GOPer now. You should have never endorsed. As dx said, if the bullet had hit Trump instead of the glass you might have gotten the nom since no Veep had been named yet.
