2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

What that tells me is the debate changed very little...

To be fair, if there is going to be important movement we won't see it for a couple weeks, until it starts acquiring momentum.

Before the debate I thought "the worst part is no matter how The Convict craps himself nobody's vote will change." So. Funny story.

Then that's not from the debate. That's just not how minds are changed. This is an impulse change that turns on for a moment and then turns off (assuming this is was, as it appears, a one-off performance). The further from the event, the less it matters. And exponentially so.

If something shows up weeks later it's a change somewhere else. Especially given that Biden has already bought out all of the discounted rate ad slots and Trump's committee is still trying to figure out what that even means.

Yeah I agree with all of this. The problem with this election is that both candidates are known. People know what kind of man Trump is and Biden is. They both have Presidential records...debates are mostly worthless. Nothing Trump says will convince people he changed and nothing Biden says will make him younger.

My SO mentioned that on MSNBC after the debate they had a "focus group" of 4 Arizona voters that were not Dems. (At least 1 was a McCain voter) Even after the debate 3 said they are voting Biden 1 was not voting at all. Trump's BS played to his base but it won no one new over. That 20% that hated him in the primaries still hate him and he has done nothing to court them as he still insults Haley and her ilk.

Apparently the Morning Consult Poll taken after the debate has Biden up 45 to 44. 538 also has Biden winning more simulations (52-47) which is better than the 50-49 from before the debate.

interesting...

Edit: Biden has also outraised Trump since the debate as well.

Armless, Legless Biden Claims Debate Defeat Just A Flesh Wound | Babylon Bee

ATLANTA, GA — With both of his arms and legs cut clean off by the end of the debate, President Biden has continued to insist that the defeat was "merely a flesh wound".

"Come back here and take what's coming to you, Donald! I'll bite your legs off!" shouted Biden. "Joe Biden always triumphs!"

According to sources, Trump had encouraged the overmatched Biden to simply step aside, but Biden refused to do so despite losing one limb after the other. "Joe, you've got no arms left, believe me. Very sad, No-Arms Joe," said Trump. "Not going to shoot too well on the golf course without arms, I'll tell you that. Just admit it, Joe."

"It's a scratch! Look at these arms," cried Biden, waving his stumps around. "I can shoot twenty under par like this! Come back here and fight, you chicken! Chickennn!"

"I'll have your legs, Joe. I don't want to, frankly that sounds terrible," replied Trump. "No legs, can't even walk, not like the people walking across our border, Joe."

"Have at you!" shouted Biden. "I'm invincible!!!!"

At publishing time, Democratic strategists had gently asked the now three-foot-tall Biden if he might make way for a candidate with limbs, but Biden insisted he was barely hurt.

Jill Biden Refuses To Drop Out Of Presidential Race | Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON, DC — Following the disastrous Presidential debate, First Lady Jill Biden announced she will not drop out of the race despite growing calls from within the party to do so.

"Over my husband's dead body!" Mrs. Biden declared. "The nomination is MINE. You hear me, Joe Scarborough? MINE! Now get back to work, fools!"

Many on the left have called for President Biden to step down after his mental decline was put on national display, however Jill Biden has forcefully refused. "Joe isn't going anywhere!" screamed Ms. Biden as a frightened Joe tried to appeal for help. "Shut up, Joe! I didn't drag your bag of bones through primary season to quit now. Get a juice box and get back on stage!"

With even liberal outlets like the New York Times calling for Biden to step aside for a younger, living candidate, the Biden campaign has thus far remained unmoved. A defiant Jill Biden returned to the campaign trail Friday in an effort to reassure supporters she is still in the game. "Look how alive Joe looks! Who's a good boy?! We're not going anywhere. Four more years!"

As of publishing time, Jill Biden announced Joe would be placed in a cryogenic sleep until after the election and she would continue to run the country in the interim.

Poll after the debate of I believe it was Puerto Rican voters, or maybe just Latinx in general, and they were all voting for Biden.

Maybe an easy choice when Donnie's fallback response to avoid answering the question posed was to demonize immigrants and attack Latin Americans.

Great post and you have talked me down off the ledge. Thank you.

I have seen multiple sources talk about this. You had the Newsweek article, I saw some Latino Congressmen say it...it seems that those inroads he made with his one commercial in Espanol are dying off except with Cubans. My guess is openly talking about deporting millions and saying the immigrants are destroying the country is not helpful in that community...who knew?!!? (FYI the CEOs he met with didnt like that either)

Another thing, I think the fact that the Dems aren't spinning this (even Biden) is helping. Everyone saw he had a bad night so just own it. They also saw Trump lie non-stop and only talk about how great he is and they were definitely turned off by it especially independents. Trump needed to win new voters...does anyone think he did because even the experts freaking out dont think that.
