2024 Bracketology - The Road to Connecticut

And if the D3 calculation truly is different than the D1 calculation, do the USCHO pairwise rankings account for the difference?

Great point. The PWR rankings we are looking at on this site may not be correct... The good 'ol smoke filled room is back? We'll know for sure when a 17-10 WIAC team gets a bid ;)

But who is it that you believe stands to gain from this perceived corruption? Follow the money, right? I don't think there is any of that...

I agree, which just bolsters my point.

When there's no monetary reason to be cynical, why mess with what has been a a fair and transparent process?

I dislike how there are so few games over the last six weeks of the season now. Anyone else feel that? I just looked back and in 2003 Norwich played all of their playoff games in 4 weekends: league QF, league SF+F, NCAA QF and Final Four. I know not every league is the same but now it takes 6 weeks to move through. The guys play 2-3 games every week for months and then its only 1 game weeks all the way to the Final Four now.

What are you getting at? The process is still fair and transparent. It appears the criteria are all out there for everyone to see. Just because you may be apparently unaware of what's going on doesn't mean the process is unfair or secretive. Sounds to me like it is right there in black and white.

The official pairwise ranking on the NCAA website has update for all games through 2/25 and is identical to the order of teams displayed on USCHO, the only difference being that the NCAA clearly uses RPI as a tiebreaker when teams have the same number of comparisons won, while USCHO lists them as tied for the same rank (but lists them in order of RPI, so the order is the same in the end).

Not underweighing OT results should have a fairly significant impact on the end result for teams that have played several OTs that didn't end in a tie, so I would have to assume this means USCHO has accurately updated their pairwise calculations to reflect the lack of OT weighting.

Here's my attempt at a "Who To Cheer For" guide for bubble teams:

CCC - doesn't matter
MASCAC - Plymouth State
MIAC - Bethel
NCHA - Adrian
NEHC - Hobart
NESCAC - Trinity
SUNYAC - Plattsburgh
UCHC - Utica
WIAC - Stevens Point

Yes, if Stevenson wins tomorrow, this could turn into a hot mess...

But that's what you get with the moronic AQ's.

The bubble dodged its first bullet as Trinity blows a 2-0 lead, but ultimately defeats Middlebury 5-2. May not get so lucky in Adrian as St. Norbert leads the Bulldogs 3-1 end of the second...

end of the second period.

St. Norbert was projected as the last team in, but they take the auto-bid from the NCHA

Adrian undoubtedly gets an at-large, so realistically, we're looking at 2 at-large spots left (Adrian and Elmira are locks)

Puts Plattsburgh in a must win position tonight. And uncomfortable for Geneseo as they need 2 of Hobart, Trinity, and Utica to win their conferences

CORTLAND! ABSOLUTE INSANITY!

New bracketology coming at the end of the Bethel-St. Olaf game

As of 10:21 pm, USCHO shows Plattsburgh Cortland as a 3-3 tie in OT. Does the Pairwise treat it as a tie, or is the game not correctly reflected in Pairwise right now? It would seem right now that if Tufts wins tomorrow, Geneseo is the last at large (and Plattsburgh is out). If Trinity wins, Plattsburgh is the last at-large.
