2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

Honest answers only. I wonder how many BC fans had the foresight to root for BU their hated rival because of bettering their chance at an NC. BU couldn’t have pulled off what DU did.

Hell no. Beyond that I didn't like thought of having to beat BU 4 of 5. I would always prefer the "other" option.

3rd period reminded me of Maine DU in Boston of 04, throw the kitchen sink at DU and nothing. Tough pill to swallow but DU was up to the task. BC will reload I expect them to be to near or at the top next year also.

I just think Denver had the right game plan and was aggressive enough to force BC into mistakes and score first. BC just waited too long to attack and with the 2nd goal that just about sealed it for Denver.

BC didn’t have that sense of urgency until it was too late. They were in hole they could not dig out of.

Congrats to Cutter on a great season helping BC to the Championship game and best of luck with the Ducks

I also agree that BC started slowly, both nights. The difference being that they made their chances against Michigan count and they didn’t finish against Denver. They could have been up 2-0 after the first period against DU. Both Leonard and Guftason could have scored in the 3rd period.

The reverse angle look is that BC only gave up 2 goals. Given where this defense was two years ago, Greg Bown has really turned the defense around. This is the foundation that will get this team back to the FF next year. Greg Brown has built a very strong team from the net out. They are going to be very tough to score on the next two years.

On offense we struggled putting together a very good 3rd line and we never got much out of the 4th line. Greg Brown will be build offensive depth as soon as next year if we can keep at least two of the freshman. He has the #1 forward and the #1 recruiting class coming in next year. It’s terrific that this team now has Frozen 4 experience.

Go Eagles!

Nope. BC-BU for the National Championship may have caused me to have a stroke or a heart attack. Or both. And no, while I don't think BU could have pulled things off in the manner that DU did, they certainly could have beaten BC as the Beanpot demonstrated.

I watched the pre game interview on Cutter a couple of times and it didn't sound like he was cocky when he said there's going to tears on the other team. He said it quietly and in a low quiet voice and it was like quick question as he was going into the locker room to dress. I agree he shouldn't have said it to give possible ammunition for the other team. If you're a player your mind is on the game and not thinking about anything else. He was just sounding confident for his team but people are making things out of nothing. Making threats and hateful comments from a Flyer fan seems beyond normal decency and out of bounds.

Thank you for being reasonable about it! When you use phrasing like he did it just sets you up to be mocked after the fact--he has to own that and deserves the jokes that have come his way. In the end no DU players even knew about it until after the game. He was confident and thought his team would win. Big deal.

I would have worried about the law of averages. As someone else said, beating BU four of five may have been too tall an order. Michigan State beat Michigan -- also a historic rivalry -- four of five during the season but look at what happened in the regionals.

I’ll admit it crossed my mind that Denver was a tougher matchup, but I figured if I rooted too hard, it would’ve bitten me in the ass

Ambrosio entered the portal.

Wilmer from BU is in the portal.
Kirwan from PSU is in the portal.

Both could be good options for BC.

Go Eagles!

Every time this thread rises to the top my fear is that one of the young stars on this team goes pro. I don't expect to see anyone else of significance go the portal route when they already have a great place to play and study. Ambrosio could shine in the AHA just like Casey Carreau did in leading Niagara in scoring his grad year.

Have to believe there is a roster spot for Ambrosio, 5th year, good skills, lots of game experience. Maybe he wants a change of scenery and he is a much more accomplished player than Carreau but I would rather play for a top 5 program than some pretender. I am not about to second guess the coaching staff but I hope he pulls his name out of the portal and is in a BC sweater next year.

I suspect he wants to play top 6 type minutes somewhere…BC might be looking at Stiga-Sondreal-Vote for a potential 3rd line this Fall…Does Ambro fit above this younger group…not likely and Brown needs to develop younger players who might stay for 3-4 years.. I respect how Colby was willing to accept a lesser role, more of a defensive-checking line, this past season.

Leonard is coming back. Have to think the freshmen just agreed to all return as sophomores, or especially Smith-Leonard-Perreault.

This is obviously excellent news. Hopefully more good news to follow re: Perrault and Smith. Maybe Ambrosio had an inkling they were coming back and that moving back up the lineup was not going to be in the cards.
