2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

Sending deepest condolences to the BC Eagles family. An unspeakable tragedy! Just heart wrenching! - from a Colgate fan.

A level of pain and devastation I can't even fathom... My God. I've been filled with sadness all morning.

Hug your love ones close. We aren't promised tomorrow.

(And not important given the human toll, but Johnny was definitely in my Top 5 HE players of all time. A legend.)

Just devastating news. I can’t even imagine what the family is going through.

Doubt I’m alone in saying Johnny was my favorite college hockey player of all time.

I am in a state of utter and complete shock right now. Johnny might have been my favorite BC player ever and was on the short list at the very least. What a horrible start to Labor Day weekend.

Particularly heinous given they were celebrating his sister's wedding. Horrible news. Sympathy for the family and everyone in BC community.

All the condolences from the rival hockey communities shows how much more we all have in common. The games are full of bitter and down putting comments but truly we all have compassion for each other and wish no harm for anyone in the hockey community. We BC fans are in a shell shocked phase now and cannot fathom how excruciating this must be for the family. May they all find comfort in the support given by prayers, honors for the brothers and the knowledge that the entire hockey community shares their grief.

Incredible tragedy. BC hockey has been dealing with some terrible losses recently. Jimmy Hayes in August, 2021, Tony Voce earlier this summer and now the Gaudreaus.

So sad. Condolences to family, teammates and fans. And special prayers for Katie and her fianc? - tragedies like this can put undue strain on relationships.

Got up early enough to see when that first came over the wire. A complete gut punch. Went into the BR to tell The Warden as she showered. We both shed real tears, and started up again tonight, after hearing all the details.

What a player and what a great young man. We both, as Maine fans, were grudgingly fans of his. He was the epitome of everything that shines in BC hockey, and in college hockey in general.

Now is not the time to feel vengeful... But his wife, his kids, his parents and his sister? They'll never get over this. And all because of some drunken Jersey asshole who just HAD to pass someone on the road.

Fuck that AH forever. 30 years is too little.

What a shock. sad day for the three families. Johnny was a magically hockey player and by all accounts both he and Matt were really good humans. What grief for everyone in the family.

I missed any type of announcement at the football game last week about the Gaudreau brothers. Perhaps it was before the game or at halftime. I fully expected some type of commemoration but maybe since it was on the eve of their services BC wanted to be respectful and allow for that to take place first.

As for this year's hockey schedule it is surprising that BC does not even have an exhibition game listed on the first weekend of play. I have always wondered why programs go into full game mode before any full team practices are allowed. Maybe BC can better use that weekend intrasquad to prepare for Michigan State than by playing a meaningless exhibition. Michigan State plays 2 at Lake Superior that weekend before hosting BC. Usually that is an advantage, but we'll see if this new approach levels it.

I believe I heard no one wanted to face Boston College in an exhibition game.

Michigan State should have a ton of talent. It will be a great test for the Eagles.

Wow. Find it hard to see how no Canadian squad would want to come down and play the boys.
