2023 - 2024 SEASON : Boston College

Cutter, Celebrini and Blake the hobey finalists. Crazy Perrault didn’t make the top 10 and Smith didn’t make the top 3. Maybe it’s mega recency bias and seeing Smith had a tough last weekend but this one is head scratching

Is it though? It's exactly the three I thought it would be. Gauthier has 37 goals in 39 games, I assumed Celebrini would be there, and I couldn't imagine them making the final 3 all Easterners, hence Blake.

They did it last year with 2 players from the same school. It happened in 2009 and 2005 as well. They also left the east out of the last 3 years of hobey baker finalists so leaving out the west/midwest shouldn’t be an issue. When you have a team who, if they did win, would have the most wins in 30 years, I don’t think it’s crazy to have 2 of the 3 finalists in the Hobey

This is a two player race and really it's a shame that the voting is already concluded. If you are gonna allow for voters to wait until after regionals why wouldn't you also count the FF games as part of the voting process.

If they did it that way, there is no doubt that Gerbe would have won instead of Kevin Porter after Gerbe's epic Frozen Four.

If those who run college hockey were smart they would choose none other than Gauthier. He was a top pick that decided to stay another year. That would send a clear message to other star players to stick around for at least another year. Giving it to another freshman would continue the one and done attitude of some. For the good of college hockey and its future there is no better choice than Gauthier.

I tend to think Marshall Warren playing for Michigan is a bigger advantage for Michigan than for BC. While BC knows what to expect from Warren and will be able to predict his play, his knowledge of BC players could be more of an impact in what several BC players intricacies are.

Except that Gauthier didn't want to come back, no? At least that is what I read after the whole trade fiasco. The best case for staying a second year these days is Cale Makar, IMHO.

My thought is that Gauthier is going to win it (goals matter and he has the most), but Chris Peters said if he had to handicap it he would give a very slight edge to Celebrini (in terms of who he thinks will win, not who he thinks should win).

I like Gauthier if there any tiebreakers/intangibles they go to him. More goals, more shots, came back for SO season (for whatever reason) and was on #1 team in the country. One of them is going to be left out in most years either is a slam dunk.

Hopefully BC will lock down on defense. Michigan is also loaded with offense. Their PP is tops. If there are penalties BC's PK vs the Michigan PP. One game at a time. This looks like another nail biter game.

I think the week off will really benefit BC. Michigan is a very experienced team making their 3rd straight Frozen 4. The extra time to prepare and get this young team to refocus on their defensive zone play is crucial to a successful weekend.

Heading out Wednesday morning!

Go Eagles!

While Michigan has a stellar PP, BC is second best. As for Penalty kill BC is first and Michigan is way down tied with Denver for 45th. BU is not much better at 36th. If penalties are called evenly the advantage goes to BC over all the others.

Can't speak for the rest of the Huntington Ave loyalists but this NU fan will actually be rooting for the Comm. Ave axis. I can go to confession, do penance, and enter therapy next week.
