2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Re: 2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Huh? Games that count? You can't be serious.

He's very serious, and many of us will vouch for him. Even if he is a slope-headed unibrow Badger fan.

You can scratch them with a stick when they're chained. Check the chain though.

2008-2009 season--first time any team played 3 games to win Final Five--tUMD.
And who led that team to victory? Goalie Alex Stalock
Hoping CC Goalie, Joe Howe, does the best Alex Stalock impression and brings the Broadmoor back to Colorado Springs.

any idea what that is about? Plans and dates for MN tourney? Hopefully they will announce that because of a prior agreement with the WCHA, the Gophers purposely played like crap and lost last night. That would at least make me feel a little better about their performance.

Hahahahaha

I think the press conference will be to announce that the world junior team will be coached by Don Lucia, it was in the twitter world.

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere...

Is CC taking the Broadmoor with it to the NCHC?

Will the MacNaughton remain the regular season trophy for the WCHA? Or move to the postseason?

Has either league said if there will be another trophy to replace the one they don't have?

For some reason I think the Macnaughton Cup technically belongs to Michigan Tech so presume it stays in WCHA.

Yes, it does. Sorry, should have said that. But I am wondering if WCHA will move it to the playoffs or find another trophy for that...

The Broadmoor Trophy is also staying with the WCHA. It was a gift to the league directly, not to CC. There was a whole article about it in the Colorado Springs Gazette. The new NCHC Commish basically said "new league, we'll make our own new traditions." A bit ironic really, that the WCHA league trophy will be named after a hotel in the city that headquarters the NCHC... but alas.

Good on CC and UW for making it this far. Sucks to be watching other teams tonight, but can't fault either program for what they've done in the playoffs and UW especially is proving to be quite dangerous (perhaps later than some of us thought going into the season).

Ditto. This is an ideal pairing, really. They both deserve it, and it will be a shame to see one of them end their season here.

Who'd have thunk it in January. 'Cept Wisko of course.

And the WCHA gets 6 into the dance in the final season?

Wonder if they'll do the brackets so that we can't have all 4 slot at the FF. I'm sure they will.

Thank you for the last 13 years of an awesome environment, fantastic hockey, and truly the greatest conference tournament in hockey.

The Final Five will move on, as does the WCHA, but it just won't be the same.

Yes, I really am somber about it.
