If it happens Jan stays home an Denver makes it. :D
Denver was always going to make it barring something odd and unlikely. But I got to admit, after losing that bet over who would finish the season with the better record, it would do my little heart good to see Jan's season end. :D
It was interesting for me as a DU fan with very little experience interacting with Husky fans (never been to St. Cloud in my life) to see and hear how cocky they were given their regular season success (or are they always like that?). The Gopher fans around me seem to really detest them. They have a lot of talent and I'm sure it was a fun year to be a SCSU fan but the regular season is not the place to hang your hat. Now their sitting on the bubble--looks like they'll mostly get in but you would think it might serve to humble their fan base up a bit heading into next week. I guess if they do get in, it's be as four and they'll have to face a tough opponent in the first round. My guess would be Lowell or Miami.

At any rate we've had a ton of fun being up here. Nearly 19K in the X tonight for a college hockey game. Makes the NCAA tourney seem like low-level mite affair in some non-hockey state like Florida.
What is interesting to me is that there have been several points through the season when DU has been ranked higher in PWR than St. Cloud, even though St. Cloud was much higher in the WCHA standings. And here we are at the end, and there's a chance that DU will go to the NCAAs and St. Cloud won't.

They were 3-5 NC with a pretty soft schedule (two of the wins were over UAH). They scheduled UAH so that Dowd and Jensen could spend longer amounts of time in the beauty parlor.

Two teams playing for one berth though. Neither one likely to make it if they lose.

Both teams' NCAA tourney begins tomorrow.

Actually, for these two teams the NCAA tourney started on 3/10. Let's keep it going Boys!

I had some beers for you, too. But that's alright. "Jan" took the three most important pieces of conference hardware and Denver got...?
edit: broadmoor is second most important

Re: 2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Did anyone happen to catch WCHA Ref Tim Walsh, who was working the penalty box in last nights CC-UM game on camera? During one of the play stoppages, they caught him gettin' down to the song "My Sharona". (with a player in the box next to him). That was classic

Wisko, with this post, you have just barely pulled ahead of Gurtholfin as my favorite poster....but barely.

YOU TWO-TIMING SLUT!

He's one of my favs too and I'm glad we're on the same side.

Just think how fun it will be to point out all of Michigan's flaws to their fans. :D

Tonights matchup is the battle of teams that had posters that wanted their coaches fired.

Re: 2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Wisconsin versus CC. Boy that scoring thread should really tear it up. Is there a record for the number of threads that hit 1000 posts in a single day? ;) No one has even started it yet.

I expect a very defensive game. But given what has happened so far this weekend this will be a 12-13 final.

Very strange that all the conference auto-bids might be needed to get their winners in.

We've scored 11 goals so far in this Final Five. How many did the "high flying" rodent offense bury?

A strong defense is not judge by how many goal their team scores but how many the other team scores. I expect BOTH teams to put up a defensive wall. I didn't think that point was too tough to follow.

The second part was saying that the expected has not been happening in most conference tournaments. Therefore, since I expect a low scoring game it will be the opposite.

Put the paint thinner away until at least noon.

Re: 2013 WCHA Final Five: end of hockey's great tournament

Scored enough to get a second seed in the NCAA! We can't say that for cc and the BADgers.

Wasn't there another Gopher 2nd overall seed that was full of talent but sharted themselves at the Final Five? If I remember correctly, everyone in Gopherland was hoping they'd put it together by the next week in the NCAA's.

Wanna say it was mid-2000's.

Whatever happened to them?

They are in what about cc and the BADgers?

How about you guys just take a little break in the bleachers. Seriously. You've earned it.

You know, just kick back, relax, watch the game. Maybe learn something about how to win games that count.
