Re: 2013, '14, '15 Frozen Four Sites

And despite what some people have said about Pittsburgh not being a good choice, I think they have to give it a try. After all, it can't be worse than Detroit.

For a visiting fan, Pittsburgh is a hundred times better than Detroit. I'd say it's better than Buffalo too. I agree that it should be a slam-dunk given the new arena and that it generally makes sense.

If "poor sightlines" are an issue then I guess Ford Field slipped through the cracks.

Ford Field won't have great sightlines, but it won't have any obstructed views. The configuration at New Orleans Arena would leave thousands of seats that can't even see large portions of the ice.

The NCAA's response to this: Then lets put it in the Superdome!

I'd be cool with Pittsburgh. Its a fun city and has a great ballpark. I hope to God the Pirates would be playing.

Actually, I was in Ford Field on Saturday and was in all the permanent seating areas. The sightlines are actually pretty good. The second level seating is not much different than if you were at the Joe or the Schott. The seating behind the goals is also excellent.

Yes, from what I heard from friends who went to the Final Four there last year, the sightlines were actually fantastic. They were in the lower part of the upper level and saw everything just fine. I'm not sure this sightline issue is as much of an armageddon as some here might believe.

A basketball court also doesn't have boards/glass running around the outside.

that's what i'm counting on.... i bought the cheap option and got 2nd row club seats behind one of the goals.

The Milw. Journal Sentinel reports Wisconsin and the Bradley Center will bid on 2014 and 2015. I'm on my bberry, so no link right now.

I think Milw hosted in 98 and 06, so that would be about right for a return.

What? We're not going back to Anaheim?

I'd rather try Pittsburgh than go back to Buffalo this round but not because Buffalo was bad. My wife and I enjoyed western NY far more than we anticipated. Chippewa Street was a good place to mingle with lots of hockey fans. The trip to Niagra Falls and Toronto on the off day to see the Hockey Hall of Fame (along with about 10,000 other fans) as well as catch the Twins/Blue Jays game was great. I just like going new places and having never been to Pittsburgh, I've had no reason to go, it seems like a logical place to want to see the event.

Boston 2013
Pittsburgh 2014
Milwaukee 2015

Next round of bids:
Buffalo 2016
Nashville 2017 (assuming Tampa works)
Chicago 2018
