2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

They want another washed up guy to pair with Bertuzzi?

Wings fans have been discussing this since it was announced that the Stars wouldn't resign him, but I'm surprised to hear that Holland may be seriously pushing for him. Personally, I don't mind either way as long as he comes fairly cheap (which he should). I think Holland is seeing this as sort of a Dallas Drake-esque opportunity (even though Modano already has his name on the Cup).

Hopefully it won't be drug related and just a heart attack or something related to the large amount of abuse he inflicted on his body over the years.

Unlikely. Cocaine abuse can't be good for your heart. Even after you've quit.

On a sort-of-related, but kind of insensitive note: How long before you start replying to posts on this board by saying "over my dead body"?

Kovalchuk to the Devils.
Lou would have some serious cap maneuvers to make if this is true and he's paying him $60mm/7years. Might make him wish he didn't bring Jason Arnott back. Will they buyout Zubrus? Rolston?

Unless they have an arbitration case (I haven't checked), the buyout period is over.

Correct.

Teams can go up to 10% over the cap, but have to be at or under the cap by the start of the season. So you can sign someone now and have your cap number be over $59.4 million, but you have to clear it out by October.

So what, just because Nathan has a kid means he doesn't have the time to update me on stuff I can easily look up myself? Jerk.

Its a steal if the Blues get the Halak that played in the '10 playoffs. But I get the feeling that it was a bit of a Cinderella run and will return back to normal.

As good as Halak was in the playoffs...at the end of it he was 9-9 and got yanked three times.

If I were St. Louis, I'd be concerned about his workload. I don't think he is a goalie capable of playing 70+ games. He's be best served with a back-up capable of playing 20 games or more.

Canadiens announce they will are not interested in negotiating with Dominic Moore, Glen Metropolit, Paul Mara, or Marc Andre Bergeron. Metro and Moore will be missed; thank goodness MAB is gone and not coming back.

Trust me, he'll come back.

It'll be with another team for him to screw up, but he'll be back. For whatever reason, MAB's career cannot be killed by his own ineptitude. In a way, he's like the Ozzy Osbourne of the NHL: should've been snuffed out a long time ago, yet there he is...
