2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

I still don't see how the lightning could possibly not claim him.

EDIT: I guess I sort of forgot about the Roloson deal, so maybe they'd skip out b/c they have to keep Smith around, but goaltending is their biggest issue.

I know it's impoossible to know if an 'addition by subtraction' event occurred, but I do wonder if the Wild (as ok as they are doing) could be in an even better spot if Gui had been able to play this year.

Nabokov claimed by the Islanders. Inevitably will become #1 when DiPietro has his annual yeast infection.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Nabby needs to fire his agent. Since June he's outpriced himself to the entire NHL, gone to Russia in a move for pure $ that backfired because his Kentucky-born wife and Californian-born kids surprisingly hated the move, got out of the contract, got back here, signed for peanuts in a move that could be a "Oh Lord, let me win a Cup" situation, then throws a hissy when someone claims him on his minimum salary contract. Hell, if the Islanders hadn't picked him up, it's been reported that the Sharks had also put a claim in, among probably a few others. He wasn't getting to Detroit.

I'd bet anything he wishes he would have taken whatever the Flyers offered him around draft time (something around 1 million, IIRC) after the Sharks had traded his rights now.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

So what happens now? Can the Islanders trade his rights? < confused >

They can re-waive him, assuming that he waives his NMC clause.

They can also eat the $3,375 they spent on the waiver claim and sit him somewhere, not play him, not pay him, and turn him into the next Radulov.

Both Girardi and Prust leave the game for the Rangers, ****. Girardi fought Ladd after a nasty hit from behind/boarding that went uncalled.

Unfreaking real. This team is cursed. How John Tortorella isn't the coach of the year with basically the Connecticut Whale roster right now is beyond me.

Had my first visit to HP Pavilion tonight. Nice place, didn't seem like there were any bad seats.

The only real problem were the people behind us. There are five people in your group, you're at most only what 6-7 feet apart. You don't need to yell at each other to converse. Also, stop acting like pre-teens when you're in your twenties.

I loved the Pavilion when I flew out to see a Sharks/B's game last year. Fantastic arena, great fans...I didn't expect Sharks fans to be so passionate or knowledgeable about the game.

Due to injury, Montreal is dressing five guys that started the year in Hamilton (Pacioretty, Desharnais, White, Engqvist, Weber)...and they're currently ahead of the Rangers. So if we're using "did the most with depleted roster" as the main criterion for Coach of the Year, I guess I'll go with Martin. :D:p

Newbury, DuPont, Zuccarello, Kolarik, Grachev, McDonagh all up right now.

Christensen, Prospal, Dubinsky, Callahan, Boogaard, Fedetenko and Frolov all on IR right now.
