Still performance art. They're not changing the rule, so it's a bunch of fiery speeches, followed by an objection by Tubs and nothing gets done.

Even Mitch McConnell thinks the bill sucks. Mitch McConnell for Christ sakes. You can tell this Mike Johnson guy is really serious about governing.

Vote them out.

Angie Craig, MN
Don Davis, NC
Lois Frankel, FL
Jared Golden, ME
Josh Gottheimer, NJ
Greg Landsman, OH
Jared Moskowitz, FL
Darren Soto, FL
Haley Stevens, MI
Juan Vargas, CA
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, FL
Frederica Wilson, FL

Frankel, Landsman, Moskowitz, Gottheimer*, Wasserman-Schultz are Jewish. The rest are not. Surprised that Stevens voted it for but Slotkin didn’t. This could have been Deano’s chance to separate himself from Biden, but he didn’t. Looks like there’s 22 Jewish Congressmen and women, so the vast majority didn’t fall for this publicity stunt by Johnson. I fully expect every Democratic member voting yes for this bill to vote yes for real bills down the road on this subject.

Just two republicans voted against. MTG and Thomas Massie. “Moderate”(ly low functioning) GOP member Don Bacon said after the bill “Schumer has to meet us halfway.” Sure, f-ckstain. What a serious proposal your new leader came up with.

Halfway on this bill would be perfectly fine - yes to aid, no to IRS cuts. That’s half, right?

Vote them out.

No offense but I'm not going to vote out Angie Craig because of one vote I disagree with. (Not that I could Omar is my rep) She is doing a helluva job and likely no other Dem wins her district.

Saying stuff like that is asinine and is just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I think we will find there are cases of excellent Members who are jammed on particular votes because of their constituencies. It can happen because of demography or local industry or the old book of Jewish fok tales, although the latter is rarely a problem for Dems anymore, as all the derpstricts have gone Authoritarian R.

If your district is 2/3 Jewish, and only 1/3 of Jews are able to see that Likud is the biggest danger to Jews in Israel, then you probably have to thump the tub with the smoothbrains. Parties understand this, which is why there are always a few passes to be handed out on votes. And in a case like this where it's just a cynical ploy by Republicans that will be killed in the Senate, nothing is lost.

The electorate is too dumb for Members to be principled in times of danger. This has always been one of the worst aspects of democracy, but if we want to enjoy its overall benefits we just have to eat it, and try to insulate the difficult policies from the mob.
