Well I don't think Scotland will be winning any goal differential tiebreakers.
In all honesty, looking at some of the other matchups in the group stage, I don’t think this will be the worst score line of the tournament.Well I don't think Scotland will be winning any goal differential tiebreakers.

The one, I won’t say secret but maybe hidden, thing about European soccer is that once you get outside of the top 12, maybe top 14 teams, the quality really starts to drop. It’s just that the top 6-8 teams are the best teams in the world with only 3-4 other teams around the world that could compete (and they’re all in South America). The middle and bottom tiers get a bit overrated because of that.No. I don't think the expansion to 24 teams is gonna allow things to stay competitive in all the group stage matches.

Like I said, the top 6-8 are the best teams in the world. And 9-14 are very solid. It’s just that 15-24 are anywhere from mid (Austria, Turkey, Czechia) to awful (Albania, Georgia).Maybe so but the % of excellence is off the charts solid.
Italy off to a great title defense already, down 0-1 within seconds to Albania.
Belgium is the classic example of “smallish overachieving country with a golden generation to a high ranking and now falling back to normality.” Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they go 0-3 and out.We comin rougher every time.
A combination of not qualifying as often and terrible performances. England’s record at the Euros outside of ones they’ve hosted is pretty bad.Obviously the field was stronger before expansion, but how was England winless in openers before 2020?

England fans are easily the most disliked fan base in the world (yes Kepler, including Boston). And the amount of shrieking that happens if anything American appears is off the charts. There’s actually a noticeable correlation between the decline in the usage of the word “soccer” in England and the rise of popularity of the game in the US. The fact that England has beaten the US in a competitive match brings me nothing but glee.I was in Bahrain for Euro 96 hosted by England. Watched England v Germany in the semis from an English pub which was our favorite hangout. The place was filled with about 75% Brits while everyone else was rooting against them.
ENG (wearing one of the worst kits ever) went ahead in the first few minutes with a wonderful goal by Shearer, but Germany tied it up maybe a dozen minutes later. The match went to extra time and England had several chances to put it away including a wide open tap-in missed by Gascoigne.
Germany won on PK 6-5 and the shrieking and crying commenced. I had made friends with several Brits by that time in my life there, but they were so arrogant about more than just football that I had to do my best to hide my glee at the outcome.
