I think the question at-large is does the USSF (or whatever governing body is involved in TV rights negotiations) not have the power to demand better broadcast coverage as part of the package negotiations? You'd think the 1st/2nd most powerful and popular organization would have more say on where their games are broadcast.

I say this from a position of complete ignorance and am only thinking that logically this would be the case. Feel free to shred away. : )

Honestly, not really. CONCACAF is going to do what they think is the best for them to make money (and for the people to grift off of). That mostly means what times and places are going to generate the best ticket revenue. They’ll give a bit of deference to TelevisaUnivision since they own the rights in Mexico and the Spanish rights in the US but Paramount is pretty low on the pecking order.

Ok sure, but wouldnt making the USNT as accessibleas as possible lend them to maximizing revenues?

The Company line seems to be that as US Soccer fans, we "Just need to accept it".

Why bother building a fan base by actually allowing more than a few weeks to plan travel to matches (and usually like an hour or two notice until tickets go on sale).

Seriously this is why the US Soccer team(s) will always be a side show in this country. American Fans WILL NOT put up with this BS constantly. It's chaos compared to how the other major sporting events in this country work.

I don't know what you guys expect US Soccer to do? I mean US Soccer, Mexico, and Canada have been dying to tell the 31 Caribbean nations to **** off and try to do what's best for the game in this country for years but it hasn't happened for a reason, those 31 CFU countries basically control everything. And they don't want to invest the money to maximize revenue for the long term, they want whatever gets them paid right now so they can grift off as much as they can. It's gotten a lot better since the FBI raids but it's still a mess.

Canada playing Guadeloupe in Toronto. Two thoughts:

1. Pretty sparse crowd for a fanbase that constantly complains about the Gold Cup always being in the US.

2. Canada losing 1-0 in the first half is also not a good look.

Can’t really blame them for not packing the stands against Guadaloupe. Granted it’s the only game they get, so you’d think there’d be more. But still, it’s Guadaloupe. Odd they wouldn’t have them play at least two in Canada for the group stage. Could have easily put one in Montreal or Vancouver.

After the financial story yesterday a loss would be disastrous today. But they have the easiest group so they should still be able to rebound and make the knockout if they don’t come back here.

I mean, they've complained a lot that they don't get home matches and that they should have an opportunity to host the tournament, and then immediately turnaround and can't sell the match they do get.

US Soccer announces friendlies versus Oman and Uzbekistan for September.

And of course it’s not because of the fact that Europe, South America and Africa all have qualifiers that window, it’s simply a conspiracy by US Soccer to pad Berhalter’s record.

Wasn't that announced a couple weeks back? Or was it just "reports" taht were all but official?

Uzbekistan is such a random country to play, yet the men and women have now played them in the last year.

It was officially announced today.

The scuttlebutt is that US Soccer had Brazil and Argentina lined up until CONMEBOL altered their World Cup Qualifying schedule.

U.S. men's national team captain Christian Pulisic has an agreement "in principle" to leave Chelsea for a long-term deal with AC Milan in Italy's Serie A league, per ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

The deal is not complete, as the teams are currently negotiating a transfer fee, but Carlisle reported Pulisic is "willing to take a substantial pay cut" to complete the transaction.

Guadeloupe beat Cuba 4-1 and Canada only managed a scoreless draw against Guatemala. Strong chance there's a US-Canada rematch in the quarters now as Guadeloupe looks to be in the drivers seat, but Guatemala can also win the group with a win against Guadeloupe in the final group game.

Tonight will be interesting. US and Jamaica each come in with four points and should each win easily. USA is +6 GD and Jamaica is +3. This could definitely not only come down to goal differential, but goals scored as well.

I think Canada is taking it as seriously as they possibly can but the reality of player management meant they had to leave their superstars to their clubs. It doesn’t help that their depth sucks.

Also doesn’t help that their manager has become a bit of an arrogant idiot.
