United States captain and veteran defender Becky Sauerbrunn will not be included in the squad for the Women's World Cup because of a foot injury she suffered in April, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Sauerbrunn, who won two World Cups with the USWNT, suffered a setback in her return to the Portland Thorns FC on June 3, sources said.

Sauerbrunn is one of several injured American players to miss the tournament, which kicks off July 20 in Australia and New Zealand, after attacker Mallory Swanson went down with a knee injury in April.

Midfield stalwarts Sam Mewis and Catarina Macario are also sidelined

Congratulations England.

So UEFA's NL title gets put on broadcast by Fox, meanwhile CBS is dumping the CONCACAF one to streaming only. Not that I expect CBS to throw the US-Canada game on primetime broadcast tv, but surely they could throw it on CBSSN instead of the CFL. At least there's Univision.

Doubly so when CBS put an NWSL game on broadcast today as well. Could've had a doubleheader though I suspect CONCACAF and Univision had more say in kickoff times.

Watching the Mexico-Panama third place game and this has to be the lowest attended Mexico game in a few decades.

Squad looks good although CAN has dominated possession. But they look confident, poised and they're playing with intent. I hope when Berhalter returns that that doesn't change.

Canada playing well until the time comes for the final pass. Abysmal for Canada in the US box. Looks like some silverware for the Americans.

Yeah Canada has been bitten by what often ailed the U.S. - an inability to finish from within close. Why the U.S. has looked good, getting out-possessed like they did vs. MEX and CAN isn't going to work against BRA, GER, etc.

Kind of shocking since Canada has arguably the two best strikers in CONCACAF in David and Larin plus the arguably best player in Davies.

Happy to see Canada taken down a peg though. Their whole setup, Federation, Team, Fanbase, were all getting pretty annoying and big headed the last year.

Mexico has fired their coach Diego Cocca today.

In nearly the time it took the USSF to complete a coaching search Mexico has already hired and fired a coach.
