So...

USA wins -----> Clinch World Cup bid (barring a 4+ goal stomping in Costa Rica).
USA draws -----> Clinch at least an Inter-Continental Playoff spot, and would need a result in Costa Rica to clinch the automatic spot.
USA loss ------> Would need a Win or a Draw + Panama Draw or Loss to clinch the automatic spot. A draw + a Panama win would clinch the Inter-Continental Playoff. A loss + a Panama win (+ Mexico gaining at least a point in the next two games) would see the US out of the World Cup.

V! A! R! gives a penalty kick to the US and Pulisic scores. 1-0 US.

15 minutes in and this game is already a s-show.

Keep an eye on Mexico v Honduras too. Mexico is in the same boat and needs a win on the road and their GD is only +6 to Costa Rica's +3.

This referee is a mess and he's one of the CONCACAF candidates for the World Cup (he ain't going at this rate).

Jimjamesak, you might know the answer to this...

A forfeit typically results in a 3-0 result for the winning team. Theoretically, and assuming the results currently hold, could the US forfeit to Costa Rica and clinch the automatic bid on goal differential? Is there another rule that would allow FIFA/CONCACAF to push Costa Rica ahead of the US?
