Actually, Canada being a man down and a goal down at halftime might the worst result. Goal Difference could be a factor and Costa Rica has a chance to make up ground.

Cero a Cero.

Win on Sunday and they're going to the World Cup.

technically, they'd also need a Costa Rica loss or tie as well, but even without that they'd have to lose to Costa Rica by something like 4 or 5 goals to blow it on goal differential in that scenario.

Costa Rica beats Canada 1-0. Canada's first loss.

Standings:
CAN 25 (+13)
USA 22 (+9)
MEX 22 (+6)
CRC 19 (+2)
PAN 18

ELS, JAM, and HON are all eliminated.

Costa Rica can catch the top 3 but they'd need to make up goal difference if MEX and USA win.

Yeah, it would take overcoming at least 7 goals and that's only if the US wins 1-0.

Interesting scenario for Costa Rica. They need to win but they also need to rotate their lineup for the third game.

On a refereeing note, how big are those two missed red cards against Jamaica? Jamaica goes down to 9 or 10 men in the first half and there's a real potential for the US to win by more than two.

Missed in the CONCACAF madness, Uruguay and Ecuador both clinched the final two qualification spots in CONMEBOL. Peru, Colombia and Chile still alive for 5th and the playoff spot.

19 teams have qualified. We still have the three in CONCACAF, the five in Africa, three in Europe, and the two Intercontinental Playoff winners.

That's good to hear about them being nice, especially since that's around the time his son died a week after being born.

Fortunately, we knew them in happier times, right after the birth of their daughter. Their first son was and will always be a huge part of their family.

Sounds like Mexico coach Tata Martino won’t travel for their game against Honduras due to “medical issues”.

Hope so.

It was awful when the Devils did it.
Someone mention a potential Curse of Zidane for Italy, in that they’re paying the price for getting Zidane sent off and winning the 2006 Final. I looked it up and there may something to it:

2010: Qualified but went winless and finished last in their group.
2014: Qualified, beat England, but still didn’t advance.
2018: Failed to qualify. Lost in playoff to Sweden.
2022: Failed to qualify. Lost in playoff to North Macedonia.

Oceania qualifying update:

Solomon Islands beat Papua New Guinea 3-2. 18 year old wonderkid Raphael Lea'i scored his fourth goal in two games (he had a hattrick against Tahiti).

He's about matching his club scoring rate of 2 goals per match.
