As for CONCACAF:

US v Mexico
Hope for a win, settle for a draw, expect a loss.

Jamaica v El Salvador
It really doesn’t matter. ES can finish fourth if they win out and Panama and Costa Rica lose out but that’s probably not gonna happen.

Panama v Honduras
Go Honduras! Panama losing, or even drawing, would ease a lot of tension for the US. Will it happen? Probably not.

Canada v Costa Rica
Go Canada! Canada qualifies with a win, and maybe a draw. Costa Rica dropping points would also ease a lot of tension. Will Canada win? Probably not, though they’ve already punched way above their historical average so who knows?

US can qualify tonight if: They win tonight, Panama loses and Costa Rica either draws or loses.

This is a scary week as a US Fan....

I'm not expecting a miracle tonight... But I want to be in a position to where we can realistically take care of business on Sunday. That is the goal.

No matter what, it's gonna be a nerve wracking week...

I think people are, understandably, letting the ghosts of Couva affect the mood.

Beat Panama at home and the US qualifies. The only thing that would prevent that is a 9 point week by Costa Rica and the likelihood of that happening is minuscule. Even then, beating Panama guarantees fourth and a playoff spot.

I assume we won't be able to watch the game yet again?
Paramount+ or CBS Sports Network again.

CBS wanted the Canada and Mexico games to be broadcast on CBS but unfortunately the schedule decided to place those games during the AFC Championship and the Sweet Sixteen respectively.

That would have been huge exposure for tonight... I wish that would have been possible...

Slipped my mind but Saudi Arabia also qualified.

Asia’s automatic spots are done. Iraq beat the UAE so the other playoff spot is still open.

Looking at AFC qualification as a whole, very surprised to see Guam in there. And they made the jump from Oceania a decade before Australia. They still play in other tournaments with all the Oceania teams, so I guess I don’t see why they moved unless they just wanted to play other teams.

Guam is a piece of the United States. Am I missing something?

They are supposed to secure a real TV schedule beforehand.

Well, at least we can watch road games now to begin with. Used to have to pay $400/mo in cable for the extra super premium sports package to get standard def BeIn or watch the most pixelated stream ever broadcast on some totally legit website.

I actually ended up with BeIn for about the last four months or so that PSVue was a thing. I don’t know how that network makes money, but boy did they have some obscure soccer games.

International windows are decided years in advance and FIFA regulations dictate on what days matches can be held.

And, as stated for the thousandth time, US Soccer has zero control of the media rights for away World Cup Qualifying matches. Finally, kickoff times for matches are controlled by the host team (with the exception of the final matchday which is controlled by CONCACAF).

The 2009 qualifier in Honduras was on Closed Circuit.
