World Soccer XXX: We Have Men Too!

There’s one thing about tonight that can be affected:

Supposedly, supposedly (I haven’t fully checked), if the US wins all three matches this window AND Italy doesn’t qualify then the US would be a Pot 1 seeded team.

Nope, if FIFA Rankings had been used like they do now we would have in 2006.

Back then they used a combo of FIFA Rankings and past World Cup performance. The US was ninth, 0.3 points behind Argentina.

And Italy is out…

North Macedonia scores at 90+2 to win 1-0.

Italy outshot then 32-4, shots on target 5-2, possession 66-34, corners 16-0. They’re out of their second World Cup in a row.

NM vs Portugal for the World Cup next week.
 
As of right now, Italy is the only Confederation Champion out.

Argentina has already qualified.
Qatar is (obviously) qualified.
Senegal plays Egypt in a playoff.
New Zealand is still alive.
The US is still alive.

Next week’s UEFA qualifying finals will be Poland vs Sweden and N Macedonia vs Portugal.

Wales won today and will play Ukraine/Scotland sometime in June. Any of those three will be a big story. Scotland would go for the first time in 24 years. Wales 64 years and second time ever. Ukraine would be first since 2006 and obviously would be the darlings of the tournament.

I think North Macedonia along with Mali are the only two possible debutant countries left (outside of Oceania’s minuscule hope teams).

Well, Qatar is making their debut.

That's good to hear about them being nice, especially since that's around the time his son died a week after being born.
