Just looked, he's 70. Cornell grad too.Isn't Bruce Arena like 100 now?
(Thinks about Buck Showalter. Edges towards door.)
Just looked, he's 70. Cornell grad too.
He’s a bloated, egotistical jerk who succeeded only by being carried by others.Huh. Had no idea.
Arena played every one of his big offseason signings: Lletget, Omar Gonzalez, Altidore.Caught the 2nd half on replay "real early" this morning and when Lletget sailed his 'shot from the spot' over the net like a Folk field goal they caught Arena on camera: https://twitter.com/MattDoyle76/stat...11580120469511
Pumas wanted it more. ;^)![]()
Italy opens its doors to referee Kateryna Monzul and on Sunday she will be on the pitch to referee the women's Serie A match Inter-Sampdoria. Italian football is united against the war and continues its relentless activity in favor of the Ukrainian population and its Federation by welcoming one of the best female referees in Europe to Italy. Like Stephanie Frappart, Monzul has already refereed several Europa League matches and other major competitions, both men and women. She will now be able to continue her refereeing activity in Italy. The synergy between UEFA, FIGC and AIA created the conditions to allow Monzul to continue her career, leaving behind the logistical difficulties caused by the conflict but, certainly, not the pain and suffering. Her debut in Italy is expected in the women’s Serie A and then evaluating the possibility of any further appointments.
Huh. Had no idea.
I'm sorry, I'd have figured he would know that.Dammit, Jim. Now I have to cross that off the list of things I know that Kepler doesn’t.
Pretty stunning, considering Arena’s lacrosse accomplishments as well. His first D-1 coaching job was as a Cornell assistant lax coach, from where he went on to become head coach of both lax and soccer at UVA for many seasons before focusing solely on soccer.
Bonus: Arena was pressed into service as a third-string soccer goalie for the 1972 NCAA tournament, where he led Cornell to its only semifinal appearance.
Reyna back is good news but I doubt he starts.
I don't know how I feel about banning athletes from competing because their leader is a criminal. It's one thing if the team was caught doping, cheating, etc. But for what gains, to what end, at what cost to people that have nothing to do with Putin's decision making?
Russia's request to freeze a FIFA ban on its football teams ahead of next week's World Cup qualifying playoffs was dismissed on Friday.
FIFA said the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the Russian soccer federation's bid for an urgent interim ruling to freeze the ban pending a full appeal.
The CAS decision means Russia will not be able to play Poland in World Cup qualifying on Thursday.
The ruling follows a similar CAS refusal on Tuesday to freeze UEFA's ban on Russian national and club teams in European football.
Russian athletes have been banned from competing in multiple sports because of the country's invasion of Ukraine. Belarusian athletes have also been banned because their country has been an ally of Russia.
Belarus has already been banned. They should ban UAE, Belarus, Iran, and the Norks, too.
