So US U23 team goes to Colombia for the first leg of their Olympic Qualifying Playoff and draws 1-1.

And the USMNT was down 0-2 to Guatemala the last time I looked.
Lost 2-0 and it wasn't even close. Now have a must win against the same Guatemala on Tuesday or we're basically out of the World Cup. I just cannot fathom how Klinsmann still has a job, any other sensible Fed would've fired him months ago.

Not making the World Cup would be astounding. Not even making the Hex would be mindblowing.

It is amazing when you look at Guatemala's roster and ours.

Someone once argued to me (persuasively) that if we were ever to miss the world cup again, it would come in this stage of the competition. 6 games just doesn't give much room for error if you start screwing around.

Assuming we can pull our head out of our asses Tuesday we should still be OK. Things didn't go well at this stage last time and Mexico apparently qualified on goal difference at this stage in 2008, so its not unprecedented.

The Guatemala-Trinidad game is going to be huge, as will be running up the score on St. Vincent. We'll win, but we have to play them on the road on a classic AYSO-could-do-better CONCACAF field.

FOX is going to want a refund on the WC 2015-22 deal they signed. Possibly no Americans in '18, and in awful time zones in '18 and '22 unless someone with brains finally moves the latter. Whoops.

If you are interested, there is a Futbol store in Madrid,( Futbol Mania) that has a Cruyff autographed jersey for sale. I'm sure it's expensive though.

I'm 100% certain that's outside my budget. I've also only been an Ajax fan since 2005, and due to distance and access, not one of my major sports rooting interests. It would be better appreciated by someone else, even if I had the disposable funds available. Thanks though :)

Canada playing Mexico at the Azteca. Good luck Canucks, you're gonna need it.

I thought Bradley was fantastic. The way he distributed the ball was just really good. I also liked that guys like wood seemed to step up their game.

Presumably that deal, like everything FIFA ever touched, was decided on bribery. The Fox execs who signed the deal are probably more worried about staying out of jail than whether it works out financially. :p

Isn't it amazing what happens when players are asked to play within their normal positions?
