Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

wth happened at Old Trafford today?

Jonny Evans and Nani, they should never play another game for United. Let them spend the next couple of months with the reserves then sell them in January.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

Chelski down a goal and a man against QPR.

The events at Old Trafford this morning were amazing. It was fascinating to hear the announcer's view on the balance of power in the BPL shifting as each goal was scored.

Edit: Two men??? Holy...

It's hard for me to believe, but i'm actually cheering for Chelsea in this game. QPR are just as rich, just as unjustified in their spending, and are trying to make a name for themselves by playing over-rated journeymen. That an they're more likely to be fighting with Norwich for position towards the end of the season :)

Kinda fun to watch an 11 on 9 though!

Even 11 on 9 Chelski seems to have the better of it. QPR better score again or they may find themselves in as embarrassing a situation as Man U.

The way this is going, the game will finish with even fewer players!

Manchester City made a statement...that's what happened!!! What a day to be a Blue that's for sure!!! After heartbreak and last second goals...City turned around...knocked down United then put a boot to their throats.

Silva, Balotelli, Milner....All class today.

Manchester Is BLUE...The Blue Moon has Risen and the noise is getting LOUDER!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'll be honest, other than Roo I'm not sure anyone else in the team from United would get in the City side. It probably is a toss up for Smalling, Evra, and De Gea but no one else comes anywhere near their City counterpart. If Roo has another great season he can will United to the title, but if something happens to him I could see United not even being in the top four. United have had a much tougher schedule than City so hopefully once City play Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea United are back on top.

I came into the year thinking United would win the title, and as great as today was, I still think they do, mainly due to your last line there.

I'm a United fan, but City is the best team in England at the moment. However, a lot can change between now and the next meeting.

City do have a tough schedule ahead, and there is a long way to go. But, we saw a few things...

#1 United's midfield is VERY shaky in the middle.
#2 Without Vidic, United's back 4 is very dis-jointed and unsettled
#3 City has the strike force and the backbone to get up on teams and then make the agony worse. They are showing a killer instinct that is unreal.
#4 Mancini is a much better manager than people give him credit. He has turned Balotelli around and gotten him into great form. He has also shown that Carlos Tevez is not needed.

Reasons 1 and 2 are reasons that City is better than United head-to-head. As shown today, both are probably pretty accurate. That's not really what I'm worried about though.

Say they manage to pull this CL thing out of the fire, and February comes around and they're balancing high-stakes fixtures in Europe in midweek against high-stakes games in the title chase at home on the weekend. That's a position very very few in the squad have been in before.

Point 3 was great to see today. United were ready to quit and City obliged them by being ruthless. At the same time, I think it's too early to call it trend, especially with our throwing away two points at Fulham still relatively fresh in the mind.

Sorry to be such a downer, I'm thrilled with the match today, really I am. Roll on Wolves on Wednesday.

Agree on most points. Also, as you much as the board slags Sir Alex, he knows how to balance CL, FA Cup, League Cup and Prem schedules. He seems to know what lineups to put out and when to put them on the pitch. This will be new territory for City.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

So the MLS Playoffs look like this...
Wild Card Round
(7) Dallas vs. (10) New York
(8) Colorado vs. (9) Columbus

Western Conference
Los Angeles vs. Lowest Seeded Wild Card Winner
Seattle vs. Salt Lake
Eastern Conference
Kansas City vs. Highest Seeded Wild Card Winner
Houston vs. Philadelphia

So NY v. LA is a possible quarterfinal matchup. Would be pretty tasty.

I think this might be the year Seattle gets over the hump in the West though.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

The penalty given to QPR was laughable IMO, but that's become par for the course in the EPL. The red to Drogba was correct, but I don't know about the other one given.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of any one team (as I was born in Boston and have lived here my whole life), but man did it feel great to see United get destroyed.

Re: World Soccer XXI: Don't Tread on the Red, White, and Blue

When I think of the West Coast, New York comes to mind. Likewise, when I think of the East, Colorado and Texas are what I think of :p

Must be the same people that think the Big East belongs in Idaho and Colorado.

Just don't get yourself wrapped up in being afraid of "Typical City" showing up again. We have a manager who won 3 straight Serie A titles...he knows how to win.

I think Chelsea's reaction was completely embarrassing, especially from Lampard and Luiz. All the diving and antics were ridiculous.
