Prevent defense. With poor defenders.

It's Obama's fault.

Probably fair enough all in all. Can't waste that many chances and defend like that and then have any complaints.
On the bright side, these girls don't have to worry about being compared to the 1999 team anymore.
Ouch.
I was rooting for Japan. They've had a tough year.
Nike can also ditch the "Pressure makes us" ad too. Whoever it was at ESPN who thought running that commercial right after the team lost on PKs was a good idea should be shot.
Agreed. Although apparently it was forbidden to mention that the final minutes of extra time and the shootout was one of the more spectacular choke jobs in sports history because they're women.
True, how many good chances did they have in the first half alone? Convert 1 or 2 of those and keep the pressure fairly well cranked up on Japan, well its Japan that's telling themselves that its still pretty nice to be in second place.Brandi Chastain and Julie Foudy would've ripped anybody for mentioning it. ESPN seems to have developed thing lately about not criticizing anything from US Soccer, it was the same with the Men after the Gold Cup. Chastain, Foudy, and DiCicco were all talking about how good it was for them to just make the final. Really? The US should be making the final just by habit, they have so much advantage over every other nation in the women's game. They had so many chances to win this game and blew them away. Great game by Japan but the US choked.

They won a World Cup. It doesn't matter how you do it, it's still a great game. No, it really wasn't a great game by Japan. They had the better of the play for all of about 15 minutes of the 120. I'm still trying to figure out how the tables were turned so thoroughly when the U.S. had the lead, particularly in the extra time.

This. We should have scored at least 4 in regulation. Two shots off the crossbar and then how many Adam Vinateiri impersonations (all we were missing were uprights on the ends of the nets).
