World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Denver is a great host city - but the one knock on it will be competitive. It's essentially the only city on that entire list at altitude. That could present some competitive equity concerns - I know that's been raised as an issue in the past. Having games at altitude isn't a huge issue, but when those games are unevenly distributed amongst a group or one side of the bracket, that might be of concern. Something to keep an eye on, anyway.

And I fully expect Chicago to work their way back onto this list when all is said and done.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

So dubbie, how much longer for Mancini?

I don't anticipate a move on Mancini this season. Unless City completely and utterly colapses I don't see a move yet. They will get out of their Europa group. They have a chance to right the ship this week. A tough test at the Hawthornes then the only match United will play IN Manchester on Wednesday. We'll see where City is after then. We do see how much the team misses Tevez. I see a big move for Dzeko in January.

The mood within the fan base and the club is more defiance against the media and the outside crap than it is to Mancini. Just from what I have seen on my website and others, most of the wrath of the fans is being pointed at the media and some of the players.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

So will that be Boston...or Foxboro? Not that it matters much. Gillette is a solid stadium, could do very well for a WC game.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

I agree with that I think. I'm a little amused to see all the speculation surrounding him, and the comparisons to Hughes. The situations are barely analogous in my opinion.
However, as a City fan, I think the Wolves fixture was a pretty ****ing indictment of Mancini. What was up with the Zabaleta substitution? I understand that Tevez was out, but when you're given a nearly unlimited transfer balance, how in the world do you justify being so reliant on a single player?

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Agreed on Mancini. I don't think he's anywhere near getting dumped, although at the end of the season I think there's some risk if they don't at least get a CL spot, go far in the Europa League, etc.

Didn't know you were a City fan!!! Come to the bluewatch site. I would imagine you are on Bluemoon?

I think the Wolves result was more the players than Mancini. The players thought they could walk in and give a half a--ed effort and get away with it. NOT in the Premier League!

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Bluemoon? Pshaw!:D I go on there sporadically, but I post more frequently at mancityfans.net

Come over to Bluewatch....its more of a pub atmosphere. I handle the front page and I mod the forum a little bit...not too much though. Need to update a little bit though...been slacking lately.

No, those are just the markets. Boston means Foxboro. DC means FedEx Field, etc.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

I don't think that list is in any particular order...
No, the list was done in order of how many fans have voted for that one city.

I wouldn't mind too much having all of USA's pool partners having to play in Denver the game before they face the USA. That, or have all of the USA games in Denver. ;) :D

I could see em bumping off Kansas City in order to get Chicago on the list.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Henry couldn't play through a knock. How very French of him! :D
Yeah, he had a groin strain that made him miss three games. Only French people have ever missed games due to injuries.

Seriously, it's gotten to the point where it was funny at first, then stopped being funny because it was so old, then started being funny again because of how obsessed you are, then got not funny again, is how repetitive this is.

So you're saying if he keeps at it, it will be funny again?

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

The U.S. Women's team lost to Mexico last night 2-1. A win would have qualified them for the World Cup, but now they must beat Costa Rica on Monday, and then win a two legged tie v. Italy to qualify. They'll be favored in both matchups, but they were massive favorites last night as well.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Landon says he wouldn't play for Liverpool.

No RT @deancooper87: @landondonovan Would you ever play for Liverpool?! I read a rumour that the new owners were interested in you...

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Park gets a double as United look like they have their legs under them with a 2-1 win over a plucky Wolves squad.

Very interesting to see that CONCACAF doesn't do Home & Home...that could cost the US
