Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Fair result between Fulham and Villa, I thought. Fulham had the upper hand in the first half but Villa scored (excellent play by Albrighton on a long cross from... Luke Young, I think?), Villa had the upper hand in the second half but Fulham scored.

What a save by Reina.

Still Good Guys 2 - 0 Evil Empire

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

I fail to see which of those teams qualifies as "good guys".

United already beat Wolves yesterday so both titles are taken. :D

Wolves aren't tomato cans anymore. They played both Manchester teams hard.

It's a Pool fans biggest dilemma. Let Chelsea run away if you lose or win and let United back into the race. It's like rooting for death by hanging or death by water torture.

Uhhh, shut up. Thanks for telling us its a dilemma. It's not a dilemma. We want to win, you git.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

So Seattle is pretty much done in MLS playoffs. Down 2-0 (3-0 agg) and can barely possess the ball. Also Beckham has put on a passing clinic so far.

Giving up a goal with less than 10 seconds left in stoppage is inexcusable. It was Albrighton who committed the foul setting up the tying goal, ticky tack but he should have known better than to give up a foul with that little time left against a ball rolling away from the goal..if he just plays D there the game ends. The roughhousing at the other end probably influenced his decision to pay back the foul.

How did they not grab that guy coming in for the header?

So, about those concerns on MLS's playoff format.

Who was it that was arguing LA got screwed by facing Seattle instead of San Jose?

How's San Jose doin' these days? Metro Playoff Fever - Catch it!

Because you can't stop Brede Hangeland, you can only hope to contain him! :D

Speaking of which: So I've read rumors that some of the big English clubs are interested in 26-year-old Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, who won the Norwegian Cup with Aalesunds last year. I mention this mainly because the dude is the spitting image of Brede Hangeland, and if the two were to ever be united on the same team then world domination would surely follow.

Separated at birth? (Cue the freaky Twilight Zone music...)

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

England not even in the running for the World Cup?

Tba posted something similar a little while ago, and now we have an FA official saying the race is between Spain and Russia.

Just where were all the stadiums that Russia plans on using in their bid?? One can figure they would have Moscow in there, but I kinda doubt that they would use some of their Far East Cities like Vladivostok.
