Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Was just going to come talk about that. I feel for you, however isn't a decent portion of the blame on Gomes?
Why assume you've been given a free kick?

Because Nani picked the ball up with two hands!

Anyone but Man U has that goal disallowed.

I don't disagree with any of that.
However, shouldn't Gomes think, "I haven't heard a whistle, I'll just play it safe and hang onto the ball here."?

Except Spurs were down a goal and looking to quickly counter.

It was a joke of a decision, even the linesman knew it. Clattenburg didn't even wave "play on."

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Is anyone watching Seattle-LA? Buddle had a TREMENDOUS strike. Seattle's crowd is incredible.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

There are more fans at the Seattle match tonight than there were at the other 3 playoff matches combined. San Jose gets a pass cause they play in a bandbox, but shame on Dallas and Colorado.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Draw.
RSL draws.......... Columbus Crew.
Baloney.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Amusing exchange I read on one of the Fulham boards today:

"Well I know he has a poor reputation but on present form IMO I havent seen a better alround player than Joey Barton this season so far,Kevin Nolan.getting on in years. Both worth a shout come January."
"Yeah, the shout being 'F'k off!'"

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Brain injuries will force Taylor Twellman to announce his retirement tomorrow.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Gareth Bale makes me feel confusing feelings.

... in your pants?

It's a good setup for producing interesting semifinals and final. It'll be MLS vs. Central America in one semifinal, and MLS/Central vs. MFL in the final.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Andy Najar won MLS Rookie of the Year. Ricketts wins MLS Goalie of the Year.

Najar and Tim Ream are a toss-up for ROY, Najar was the only semblance of talent on a bad team, Ream was a shut down defender on a good team.

Re: World Soccer XVIII: A New Season

Yeah, I personally thought Ream should have had it, he started all 30 games this year for NYRB. After seeing him in person, I thought there was no other rookie (defender?) that played as well as him.
