World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Argentina are done. They can't find a way through Germany's defense.

Pastore is an interesting choice here.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Well, if this score stands, I will have 2 of the 3 semifinalists and I still have Spain winning it all.

I'm down to 2....with the Germans winning it all. Brazil losing yesterday (they were my other finalist) hurts, although despite my picks, I was glad to see it!

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Oh, I thought you were gonna go with the hockey analogy and mention BC ;)

BC is often mentioned as title contender...Michigan State and Germany aren't.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Thomas Mueller come off. He went from ball boy to Man of the Match.

Eh, every time Germany is mentioned you hear to never count them out in tournament play--same with MSU.

I don't think Germany and Michigan State are universally disliked like BC is, though.

Ha, talk about an overstatement. And from a Cornell fan? You must be upset about that 2003 Regional Final win by BC--oh wait, Cornell won that game...

A shame he's out of the semifinal. Any chance that card is rescinded? The accumulation rules drive me crazy.

I know. Doesn't change the fact that nobody likes BC.

I think Mueller looks like the sensei of the Cobra Kai dojo:

Even Klose? That's a little off base for someone with his World Cup pedigree.

I think he's clearly demonstrated he has no idea what he's talking about. :D

....even klose... that's golden.

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

Well, anyone want to take bets on the first person to throw a punch in the tunnel?

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

This means the world is spared Maradona's streaking.

Speaking of, go Paraguay!

Klose has a terrible strike rate when you consider how many chances he gets. Its been a running joke, he'll score about half the time he should score. But he is so industrious and gets good service he scores a crap ton of goals for Germany (though his club form is a bit off.)

Re: World Soccer XVI: The Sadness

The only reason why I'd root for Spain in the nightcap is becasuse I picked them to win the whole thing. However, I'm going farther and farther down the leaderboard now that Germany knocked out Argentina.

I picked Spain to win the whole thing and have them play the Dutch in the finals so I guess its good I still have my top two teams left. But still, Germany advancing kills my chances of winning any money.
