As someone said in the comments: Goosebumps

Probably already been noted, but I love the, "Aw crap" and downtrodden looks after the save followed by the outburst following the goal.

I don't know if this has been posted here, but try to get through it with out shedding a tear or two....

"Some dude in Arkansas..."

:D

btw - wicked lightning and thunder going on all around me right now in the northern metro. The kids took themselves to the basement. :p

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

So the final numbers for the Confederations in the group stage:
Oceania 0/1
Africa 1/6
Asia 2/4
CONCACAF 2/3
South America 5/5
Europe 6/13

Hopefully the US and Mexico (blerg), can do some good work over the weekend, maybe get us another slot from Africa or Europe.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

The brackets are very intriguing to me
One stacked Bracket (Germany/England - Argentina/Mexico) 3 former champions and team that normally does very well

Two Brackets with teams that haven't won in the modern era (or ever)
(Uruguay/South Korea - USA/Ghana)
(Paraguay/Japan - Spain/Portugal)

One with two favorites in a continental matchups
(Netherlands/Slovakia - Brazil/Chile)
Can't look past anybody now, but hell, about as good as a shot as the USA is going to get to at least making it to the semifinal game.

Yeah, everybody all thinking that we're hosed again and then see Donovan streaking in to the ball. Then going nuts, then holding their breaths to make sure that it counted. wasn't sure if it could have been offsides because of that one USA player that was inside of the goal when it went in or not. ;)

Now these are soccer fans. :D

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

slap shot... I'd like to read this thread at work during the week... I'm sure I'm not the only one. Yeah, they're freaking hot, but still.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Apologies if somebody else thought of this...but thinking of the Nike commercial...it really was Donovan who had the whole thing flash before his eyes...whole rest of his life as the guy who never really got it done or as the guy who becomes the hero. The ball sitting there for that second accentuates the opportunity he had to think about what to do next....we've seen plenty of guys shoot that over or off the post in the last weeks...but he wrote it differently.

Not Rooney, Ronaldo etc.

That is the first image like that on this thread. Perhaps even every World Soccer thread.

I'm sure this thread will be closed out before Monday morning... point being is I don't like having surprising NSFW.

Hell, it will most likely be closed by 2pm tomorrow. But yeah, I do see your point about the NSFW. It might be tastefully done, but with the stance she has in that photo, its NSFW!

Dan Patrick pointed out to Landon that he had scored more goals than Messi, Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo combined. Landon's answer: I'd like to get paid like them. :D

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Uruguay up 1-0 seven minutes in as South Korea's defense was asleep at the wheel on a cross by Forlan that Suarez punched home.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

Looks like Korea got away with a handball in the box.

Re: World Soccer XV: Diver Down

This is for the South Korean keeper.

On the one hand I'd like to see CONCACAF get another slot, but on the other hand, I don't think I can see anyone other than the US and Mexico advancing without a pretty big fluke (Costa Rica in 1990 was the last one), whereas at least the European sides that didn't generally have a creditable shot at doing so (Italy and France stunk up the joint but have won the tournament before, Switzerland beat Spain and advanced out of their group in 2006, Slovenia was on the brink of advancing, to pick a few examples).

Also, I figured out why I detest Uruguay: it's like watching the New Jersey Devils. Dull as watching paint dry.

I was having a similar discussion with a friend. I can't honestly make the case that a CONCACAF side would have fared better than one of the African ones, but should that matter? Africa has failed, another confederation should get their chance, in my opinion.
