nasty gash opened up on the slovakian midfielder's knee... looks like it will need a bunch of stitches... surprisingly, he waves off the sub and returns...

paraguay and new zealand are level

Halftime: Slovakia 1 Italy 0.

Slovakia had one more great chance from a midfielder late. Italy's best chance of the half came on a Slovakian clearing shot in the direction of their own net.

ESPN: If the Italians don't advance, I wouldn't go home. Maybe go to France with their team.

Ghana makes me nervous. They made us look silly in 06. I know Eissien isn't there now, but don't advance the US to the next round just yet.

not sure if you were implying that di rossi is the guy from new jersey that shunned the us to play for italy, but if you are, you are mistaken... the kid from new jersey is simply rossi, and he was left out of the 23 man roster after being invited as part of the 28 man roster...

I know I'd be overjoyed if the Wandering Peter Jacksons made it to the knockout stage, but if it's just Slovakia and Paraguay, I won't complain. Now that Mexico is in the knockout round, Italy is the next team I want to see fail.
