They should be allowed to play in suits of armor next time.

Anyways, better a hard-fought soccer game than a battle with guns and grenades.

Pretty much. I think the one reason I enjoyed the last game so much was that the teams were playing soccer and not trying to maim one another. And the score was nice too.

Things staying the same, but worth pointing out that with Brazil hosting, South America's 4.5 is really at least 5.5. Just as Africa's 6 will become 5 with South Africa not hosting.

True...if South America gets 6 of their 10 teams in the World Cup that would be crazy.

Kolo Toure failed a drugs test and could be facing a two year ban. I guess the story is that he took some of his wife's diet pills.


Also, I'm not an Arsenal fan, but their club website has kits marked down to £15 now. Pretty good deal.

Actually it's a bit of a win for CONCACAF that instead of playing South America in a playoff, they've got a shot at playing either Asia or Oceania, which would undoubtedly be an easier matchup.

Probably also a win for South America; using the 2010 qualification as an example, I'm pretty sure I'd pick Uruguay or Costa Rica over Bahrain or New Zealand (though as the actual tournament showed, you underestimate the Kiwis at your own peril).

Nike is going to release a red USMNT jersey in April. The story goes that they've been wary to release one before now because at some point, someone at Nike was told that Canada was our biggest soccer rival, and they didn't want to upset people.

If that's true, it's worthy of a facepalm.

That having been said... avoiding red isn't necessarily a bad idea, because multiple regional rivals have it as a primary color. I believe Costa Rica is one of them, as well as the aforementioned Canada.

It'd be good from a merchandising standpoint though; have to figure members of Sam's Army would buy a bunch.

Personally I hope they don't though, because it makes my replica of one of the few red shirts they've worn less interesting. :o

Canada was awarded the 2015 Women's World Cup, edging out (narrowly I'm sure) Zimbabwe.

FIFA has taken a hard look at the issues facing the game... and have banned snoods, effective July 1. Problems solved then.
