I agree with you, it was probably a yellow.

However, he also could have gotten a yellow for incessant fouling thirty seconds earlier. Two yellows = one game is a big difference from straight red = two games, so he still should feel cheated.

I saw your earlier post, and I agree with it. But then you give him a stern talking to and a yellow.

These refs are lacking common sense.

I think i'm the only person who doesn't mind the horns. I thought they've been around a hell of a lot more than people are making them out to have been. I don't even hear them anymore.

They haven't been around that long and you can't even hear the cheering of the fans. It was a novelty, and a year ago we watched the Confed Cup thinking man, those noises might get annoying next year.

Now within 5 minutes I want to mute it, we're not even 10 matches in.

See, I've been watching soccer for 15 years and I can't remember a single game where I didn't hear horns being blown all game long. Hell, even the Minnesota Thunder had horns being played by the fans. THE THUNDER!

These aren't regular horns these are like gigantic kazoos that make one continuous sound. I've been watching soccer on television since the '90 World Cup. I cannot stand the noise. They don't add anything to the atmosphere of the games.

They also might cause permanent hearing loss.

Netherlands/Denmark is the only game of intrigue for me tomorrow. I want to see if the Netherlands look like the contenders people are making them out to be.

I expect Cameroon and Italy to find a way to get points in their games as well.

Didn't FIFA basically say a tackle from behind was an automatic red like three World Cups ago?

Let's hope he's not like Jacoby Ellsbury...

That was harsh on Cahill, he was probably due a yellow for persistent fouling, and a yellow for the particular foul, but you can't conflate the two into a straight red.

That's my biggest problem with officiating/the rules about cards--unnecessary red cards given out and just like that a key player is out for one of only three guaranteed games. I don't like it at all.

Unless I'm paying attention, I tend to forget the horns are even going - their presence fades in and out, but is mostly out consciously. I don't watch soccer because of the chanting in the stands, I watch to see beautiful play on the pitch. While I suppose it might be fine were they less prevalent, they don't remotely ruin the experience for me.

I doubt I was the only person who noticed this today, but a certain Ghanaian defender, who claims his last name was misspelt 'PANTSIL' on his work permit by West Ham United and says it's really 'PAINTSIL,' was 'PANSTIL' today.

I guess the guy in charge of kits was really <strike>pants paints</strike> panst today.

I know I'm still beating a dead horse, but this is my masterpiece.

A song for El Tri and RSA to use against France.

"Henry" (Sung to the tune of "Zombie" by The Cranberries)

ENJOY!

Another hand hangs lowly
World Cup Berth is taken
The refs stood there in their silence
Boy were they mistaken

But you see, it's not me, said that cheat Henry
Used your hand, used your hand you’re still lying
With your hand, you cheated
you cheated you scum
Used your hand, used your hand, they are crying

He used his hand, used his hand
Henry, Henry, Henry
Hey, hey, hey
He used his hand, used his hand
Henry, Henry, Henry!
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Oh, do, do, dou, do, do, dou, do, do
Dou, do, do, dou, dou, do, do, dou

The Irish hearts are breakin'
Cus they got screwed over
The refs stood there in their silence
Boy were they mistaken

It's the same old scheme thanks to Platini
Used your hand, used your hand you’re still lying
With your hand, you cheated
you cheated you scum
Used your hand, used your hand, they are crying

You used your hand, used your hand
Henry, Henry, Henry
Hey, hey, hey
You used your hand, used your hand
Henry, Henry, Henry!
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Oh, oh, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, yaa, yaa

But he still had a decent outing for the Ghanaian natinal team.

And I've seen plenty of stories about plenty of bars being packed for the game.

Anecdotal evidence, but I don't know a single person who didn't watch this game at a party or a bar. I'd imagine that 10 million is closer to 20 in actuality. There must be some metric to measure this effect. God knows there is a lot of money involved in finding out the true figure broadcasters reached.

Very nice song. I hope El Tri lose by six. Then France can lose the rest of their games.

Next time it's in America, we'll just play canned pop music the entire match over the stadium speakers, since it's an integral part of our "culture". I'm sure everyone will be fine with that.

I would kill someone.

I didn't watch at a party or a bar so now you know one...
