Time wasting.

If the cheating scum didn't flop around on the pitch like they'd all been shot, there would be more time. :p

Italy's last 14 goals in the World Cup:

They must've been counting the penalties. He11, they had 5 against France.

The only diving Italy's doing now is down the group table. As they said on the telecast, Gazzetta della sport is going to be one hell of a fun read for those who speak Italian tomorrow.

I'm not even sure that's where they got it. Before the WC Final in 2006, Italy hadn't played in a penalty shootout since losing to France in the 1998 Quarterfinals.

Italy, France, England, and Spain(!) continue the race to the bottom for the UEFA "superpowers".

when you can't tell the difference between the 5th and the 74th best nation in the world in a match I think it has to question the sport's ability to distinguish the better team.

Only 3% of Yahoo players picked a draw. 1% picked New Zealand. Only 25% thought the Kiwis would even score a goal.

Italy's last 14 goals in the World Cup:

Today: Iaquinta (Pen)
vs. PAR: DeRossi (Open play)

2006:
vs. FRA: Materazzi (Open play)
vs. GER: Grosso (Open Play)
vs. GER: Del Piero (Open Play)
vs. UKR: Zambrotto (Open Play)
vs. UKR: Toni (2X) (Open play)
vs. AUS: Totti (Pen with dive)
vs. CZE: Materazzi (Open play)
vs. CZE: Inzaghi (Open play)
vs. USA: Gilardino (Open play)
vs. GHA: Pirlo (Open play)
vs. GHA: Iaquinta (Open play)

So, no.

Ok, Klinsy just repeated a similar, but different stat - that 70% of their recent goals have been off of set pieces. That is much more plausible.

You couldn't tell from watching that match that Italy is the better team?

Is Ryan Nelsen's wife American? (Someone mentioned that he might have to fly to Minnesota if she were to go into labor.) Because there's a guy I'd love to have on the Red Bulls if he were to play a season or two in MLS at the end of his career.

How about Stufa di gaz????

Also, right now the French team is reported to be in "disarray". So, do they advance or not?

No worries.

A few more minutes of "insight" from Lalas and you'll be chasing that hangover with some fresh beers.

My guess would be "no."

Bookmaker William Hill offering 100/1 odds that France will forfeit its match against South Africa next week.

BTW, the following catch phrase needs to be banned, as I've heard it after both New Zealand matches:

"The All Whites are all right..."

Find new material, Ian.
