Apparently, all the bees weren't being wiped out by that colony collapse disorder in '06. They just moved to South Africa, where their hives are planted around soccer fields and cared for lovingly by the natives.

well that's stupid! you can't hear shit now!!

This might work to silence the horns (if you have a high-tech system)

A great comment that I saw on another board:

"I covet Steve McManaman's hair."
Along similar lines: What happened to Ruud Gullit's hair? He used to have awesome hair:

And now he looks like this:

BORING.

Does anyone else remember when Nicky Shorey was a hot commodity for Reading, got a few caps?

He's set to go to Nottingham Forest. Quite the precipitous drop.
That's surprising; he made a really good impression loan at Fulham and there was speculation that Hodgson would exercise a reported option to buy in his loan agreement and look to sell Paul Konchesky. Even if that isn't the case, I would've figured there'd be a Premier League team interested in him.

Just got done watching NED-DEN (those are the reverse of each other) on the DVR. I thought Denmark looked pretty good and a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result to be honest. Dennis Rommedahl was the game's most consistently dangerous attacking player, in my book. (Elia and Van Der Wiel looked good too, and Harkes was right to praise Kuyt's work rate.) Still, the Dutch got the job done and I guess you can't begrudge them their three points either. Also, VDV's volleyed shot ~57 mins would've been an incredible goal, but Sorensen made a great save to keep it out.

Also, John Harkes really doesn't like Nigel DeJong. (Not without reason, of course.)

The own goal was really awful, why the hell would he head it into that area. Agger had no chance to get away.

The own goal was really awful, why the hell would he head it into that area.

Looked to me like there were two Danes in line with each other. Both jumped, and it looked like the 1st player would get it, but he missed. The 2nd player was then caught off-guard a little. Like when a pass in football goes through the hands of the first receiver, if there's a 2nd receiver directly behind he usually misses that catch even though it hits him in the hands. That split-second of hesitation because you think the person in front of you will get it really messes things up.

I bet Robert Green was a Time Lord so he could go back and take care of that little gaffe of his. :D

Now it's all Canada's fault!

Canadian lingerie model Elizabeth Minett and her break-up with English goalie Robert Green is being blamed by the British press for his stunning slip-up Saturday at the World Cup.

Green blundered with a shot by Team USA so badly that the ball ended up rolling into the net, tying the game and leaving English fans fit to be tied.

But, as the British press quickly learned, that’s not the first time something has slipped through Green’s fingers - he’s also blown it with a blond and beautiful Canuck lingerie model.

Man, someone should have let FIFA know that if you're going to have an event in a third world country, you need to have some tickets discounted or you get half empty stadiums.

I'm not sure if this is the World Cup or a NCAA hockey regional.

Or you could at least go into the townships as Ally McCoist said to do in one of the earlier matches.

1-0 Slovakia. Maybe a hint of offside?

Sure wish I could watch some of these!

From yesterday's WSJ:

"For the first time, soccer fans in the U.S. can watch every single World Cup match. Such is the norm in Europe, and in mainland China.

Football crazy Hong Kongers who live in buildings with satellite antennae might’ve tuned in to mainland China’s CCTV, but now that loophole is being sewn up.

In Hong Kong, the subscription service i-Cable won the legal rights to show every match. For those who don’t subscribe to i-Cable, the only local viewing option was a pair of free stations that will air two semifinal games and the final (they also showed the opening game on Friday). Even North Korea has made it easier to watch the World Cup: its state broadcaster has aired footage from three games so far, though not surprisingly it skipped the South Korea and U.S. games. (South Korea’s SBS TV, which has refused to share its feed with the North as it did in 2006, called the latest broadcasts an “act of piracy.”)

So many Hong Kong residents were left with CCTV. But, according to the Associated Press, the Hong Kong government said it asked local buildings with satellite antennae last week to block out CCTV’s World Cup coverage, warning that violators “may attract civil liability” for copyright infringement.

Foiled again!"

Even North freakin' Korea has the games! Unbelievable.

What about ESPN.com? Here, when you try to watch their World Cup videos, you get the "Content unavailable in your area" message.

It looks like Slovakia was a victim of a horrible SMELTZing accident. :D
