Man, someone should have let FIFA know that if you're going to have an event in a third world country, you need to have some tickets discounted or you get half empty stadiums.

I'm not sure if this is the World Cup or a NCAA hockey regional.

LOL

1-0 Slovakia. Maybe a hint of offside?

Well I'd say the tying goal was a just result for New Zealand...

From yesterday's WSJ:

"For the first time, soccer fans in the U.S. can watch every single World Cup match. Such is the norm in Europe, and in mainland China."

Is this true? What was done in 2006?

I sure can't remember any matches not being shown live in 2006.

Yeah, I don't think that's true. I'm pretty sure every match was on live in 2006.

That was a rocket from Ronaldo. Post though.

Even the ESPN GameCast says it was a dive.

YELLOW CARD: Ronaldo goes past Yaya Toure and throws himself to the floor. Minimal contact but still a booking.

Early booking for Ronaldo...that might change a few things.

This has the feel of a knockout stage game...both teams very into the game.

I like what I see from the Ivory Coast. I think Portugal may actually be my most hated team behind Mexico. They just seem slimier than Italy, if thats possible.

The crowd doesn't look bad in this match unlike that debacle in Rustenberg. I know NZ-Slovakia isn't a must see, but that lower bowl was brutal. But once again, the worse this tournament looks the more fondly FIFA will remember1994's attendance and these new TV ratings in the US.

Ronaldo's constant embellishment act gets old EXTREMELY quickly.

Go to Cote D'Ivoire!

I think they should get draconian with these players. Stay down longer than 15 seconds, mandatory sub or a booking. Take your pick.

Embellishment should be a booking.

But of course, Drogba does the same thing.

Not to excuse the crowd, but given that Rustenberg has a running track, I can see why fans would opt for the upper deck rather than the lower bowl.

Leaving politics out of it, I'm kinda intrigued to see how long North Korea can keep Brazil off the board...

That CIV-POR game was fully embarrassing for both teams. What a joke.
