No impact on the outcome? Ghana won the game fair and square. They kicked the game winning goal into the net. They won. The other team cheated and took the goal away. Why should Ghana have to "prove" they scored by scoring again? Penalty kicks are for lost scoring opportunities. This wasn't an opportunity. It was an actual goal. What did Ghana do to deserve having to make a penalty kick? Nothing. The other team cheated.

No, it wasn't a goal. The ball never crossed the line.

I'm not sure what remedy you want here. I don't think there's a provision in the laws of the game for the ref to just award a goal. There's no equivalent of goaltending like in basketball.

Likewise, if you think the remedy to Ghana (a PK) was inadequate, the suspension of Suarez should be irrelevant to the in-game remedy.

You see this in hockey, too. I've seen non-goalies cover a loose puck in the crease to prevent an obvious goal - since you cannot assume the goal would have actually been scored, the remedy is a penalty shot.

If the final proves a solid match, imho this will have been the most entertaining World Cup start to finish that I can recall.

They look like the same jersey. Probably the store that's "pre-order" sold out and you can pre-order in anticipation of them getting more stock.

I don't like Forlan but he had a great tournament; unless someone stands out big time tomorrow, he's my pick for the Golden Ball.

I think it's kind of funny how Darke harps on about things. Kind of endearing in my mind. I like how he gives his opinion on things, as opposed to some of the more wooden American announcers.

I don't care too much about the announcers. They all say funny British things and that I enjoy.

- Asking more questions of the defense
- Good value for their lead
- He was always second favorite to get to that ball
- That was a speculative chance on goal at best

etc. :D

Seems a lot less likely than a first minute penalty or that the referee would need to be replaced.

I like that the author made no reference to what he was alluding to, you just had to know or not realize that it was a reference to anything.
