I don't care. I wanted Spain to win. I've dealt with a Dutch company over the years and they threw me under the bus. I'm happy today.
Did Paul the Octopus pick correctly?

if I had to watch those guys lay on the ground in agony and then jump right into the play all the time I'd never watch soccer.
Wait, isn't that soccer?
Yes, he did.
So, we go from the World Cup to a month of friendlies between teams like Club America and Manchester City.
Except, of course, that the Dutch free kick that went just wide right before that after hitting off the Spanish wall was called a goal kick instead of a corner - and the ensuing goal kick began the sequence that led to the goal. Iniesta might have been onside but he shouldn't have been in a position to be doing anything there.
Does anyone else think the diving epidemic has been brought on by the refs and could just as easily be done away with by them? If a player gets grabbed or fouled in any way and tries to stay up nothing will get called. There becomes no incentive to actually try to stay up with the ref waiting to see if there is any advantage before calling play back. It was the same type of thing in the NHL until they actually started calling penalties on any hooks or holds. Just a thought, was curious what everyone else thought about it.
I see the same thing in my kid's youth games. Only calls are when someone hits the ground - and maybe not then. I thought the game was supposed to be skill based. Not who can push the other guy around. Had a game against a Winnipeg team this AM, we had a younger player playing up with us. He's a Spanish exchange student and more skilled than anyone on the field, also smaller. He did next to nothing today cause the Canadian kids leaned on him all game, just pushed him off the ball. Unlike most Spaniards, this kid didn't dive all weekend .
He's young yet...they don't teach diving fundamentals until U16....I see the same thing in my kid's youth games. Only calls are when someone hits the ground - and maybe not then.
