World Championships: U18 and Women’s

I'm almost always in house and also watch some Very Bad women's hockey feeds, so when I do watch a feed from LaBahn, I don't notice the angle of the cameras, but I will say that TSN did put their cameras on platforms, which would have further exacerbated the "issue" if it was a bother. Posting the photo isn't working for me and I don't care enough to fuss with it, so it's here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TzkgofvAAdgsBTcN7

Also, pursuant to the conversation about what is and isn't possible at LaBahn and the space, this layout is a complete 180 from what was originally planned and proposed. When they had to "turn" the layout, it affected ALL KINDS of things. Basically any complaint about LaBahn and space can be attributed to this. I have pictures, etc in this Twitter thread: https://twitter.com/NicoleHaase/status/1316559587433164805

Interesting about the camera platforms, and the diagram plans for the LaBahn layout. If I ever knew or saw that, I have since forgotten.

(One note about the name of the basketball practice "pavillion" that you had wrong in at least one tweet: it isn't named after a guy named Nicholas Johnson. It is the Nicholas - Johnson Pavillion, named after Badger basketball player and then big time donors Ab Nicholas along with his wife Nancy Johnson. )

This is crazy interesting. So the capacity doubles yet the seating is only on 3 sides.

Sadnesss..... Dani Cameranesi announced her retirement today. Given Wroblewski’s reputation as a development type coach, I was excited to see if he could get her game going again. In my view Cameranesi was one of many young stars whose game stalled in the midst of the pandemic and boycott. Such a shame.

congrats to her on a fantastic career. What a pleasure to watch her with Knight and Brandt when they were a line back in 2018/2019.

USA Hockey will name their teams tomorrow it sounds like.

Cavallini is pregnant so goaltending will change from the Olympics.

It is so frustrating to try to see the stats for the Festival games! They'll be on the website, then disappear completely. Today's O18 games have disappeared. And when the games are listed, the only "stats" are goals and penalties. Honestly, USA Hockey should do better than this. I know these are just scrimmages, but many of us are interested.

Yes, I’m hoping for more coverage next week when it’s the pre camp for Worlds.

It’s been a quiet summer for hockey coverage, other than U18 Worlds.

You guys is women’s hockey cursed?
coach Wrobo has Covid which usually means someone else has Covid. Hopefully it’s not the case and Wrobo and all players can go participate. Not sure what IIHF policies are at this point; I’m sure many know CDC in the US down sized their guidance last week, which will likely result in revised school policies shortly.

john Wawrow wrote an article on the positive Covid test, but the follow up text from Wrobo was more interesting.

USA and Canada are heading to OT in the first game of U22/Collegiate play, if anyone's interested in watching the free stream:

https://video.hockeycanada.ca/en/c/c...-vs-usa.108767

*EDIT: No OT, it's going to a shootout

...and Canada wins the shootout after a 3-3 regulation game. Incoming Penn State freshman Tessa Janecke scored two of the three USA goals, including the tying goal with 10 seconds left in regulation. She's going to be one to watch.
