Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2024-2025

Looking ahead - always a dangerous thing to do :-) - with yesterday's results, Clarkson is now (I think) locked in at the #8 seed, and wins a trip to Madison next week to play the #9 seed on Thursday. #9 could be St Lawrence, or legitimately be the Hockey East winner, if Mercyhurst beats Penn State today (bumping St Lawrence off the bubble).

But as BowWowWow pointed out a while back, they will likely move St Lawrence anyway to avoid the ECAC matchup, and send the Hockey East winner to Madison regardless.

So, we're pretty much locked in to Clarkson vs HW winner on Thursday, with the Badgers getting that winner on Saturday.

(BTW: Clarkson at LaBahn for an NCAA quarterfinal was supposed to happen in 2020, when COVID cancelled the whole tournament. IIRC, the Clarkson team didn't find out it was all cancelled until they arrived at the Madison airport on Thursday night, before a Saturday game.)

I guess that can go under the category, "What's worse than losing an NCAA quarterfinal to the Badgers in Madison?"

Tim must love this one:

The goal was O'B assist to Wozniewcz, right after a faceoff. Mad scientist MJ sending who-knows-what line out for the faceoff, and they get the goal.

Congratultions. UM seemed to be running out of gas in the 2nd before the tying goal, and as the third moved along, it seemed like only a matter of time. I'm glad we didn't have to play a couple of OTs.

I thought your team played a pretty good third period.

The line for the final goal was Eden, O'B taking the faceoff, and Woz.

Just a hunch by MJ, I hope, and not something wrong with Simms.
MJ, quoted by Nicole Haase's article at USCHO:
“I put Woz[niewicz] out there just because, she skates so well, she’s got energy. She’s in really good shape, so she recovers quickly. Maybe something can happen,” said Johnson, who also said he believed the game was headed for overtime.
