Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2023-2024

Any word on Murphy? Sounds like only 10 forwards and 6 defense dressed. Need to stay healthy.

Thought the goals Gervais gave up weren’t the most challenging. Think Ava M takes over from here on out

Murphy walked past me on the concourse after the game and at minimum did not have any indications of a major injury. That's all I have.

A nice bounce back performance today for the ladies. They had a couple brain farts in second period on break out passes, but the Tommy's couldn't convert like that other team did the week before. Brittas second goal was a beauty of an individual effort there with a perfect shot as she was falling to the ice. Wow. I loved LEs goal on a beautiful cross ice pass from Harvey. She shot off the pass. Yes! Three defenseman scored and none of them was named Harvey lol. Kotlowski's was a fantastic in tight shot. I miss Jungles goal, I was getting food to avoid a line lol. They should have reviewed the last potential goal at the end of the game, because I think I went in before the horn went off.

It was a distinct pleasure to have my oldest son with me yesterday, also with my hockey buddy Maddy as usual. A disabled car by the Monona terrace made us 15 minutes late but we still got seats where we like them. Looks like I'll get to enjoy the sites and smells of the rink one more time this season before another sad farewell.

Concussion or rib issue perhaps. I believe it was a result of the hit MJ challenged for contact to the head, yes?

Around noon today, an email hit my inbox from UW "reminding" me that it was time to get my application in for NCAA regional tickets, as if there had been a prior notification that had slipped my mind.

Just an application, no choosing seat locations, etc. Deadline Wednesday 4 PM to get in your application.

For anyone who is 'new' or doesn't recall - it's been a while - NCAA games are assigned seating, and the seat locations are assigned by the athletic dept, based on who-knows-what; that is, I don't think there any advantage to getting the application in 'early'. And the game itself is not a UW home game, it is an NCAA game, so things will look and feel a bit different.

Thanks as usual for posting this. The season tickets are under my wife's email information and she's not really good about being top of this kind of thing so I probably would have missed it had you not posted something. You are the best.

I wonder why Murphy got the nod for final 3 rookie of the year and Potter did not. Statistically there pretty much a copy of each other. Both were pretty invisible on the blue line which of course is a good thing for a defenseman. The biggest difference between the two is that Murphy tends to take dumb physical penalties but Potter is not. Sadly the WCHA press release talks about the other two rookies in detail but completely ignores Murphy. Pretty pathetic.

My husband and I just tried to make a donation to women's hockey. We were told that the only gifts being accepted by Badger athletics must be directed to 1) Football (duh, we already give that huge amount to keep our seats); 2) the new indoor practice facility for football; or 3) the women athlete scholarship fund. So, if we want to donate to specific sports, like we've done in the past, we can't do it. Doesn't this seem wrong? The AD is basically turning away our donations.

"Donors may also visit the UW Foundation supportuw.org/give to make a sport-specific contribution towards operational support that is 100% deductible and counts toward Wisconsin Athletics Donor Rank status (Annual Giving Level and Priority Points)."

The UW Foundation site also prompts you to fill out a short survey that lets you complain about how the athletic department is handling donations - I did.

I was at the first USA U-18 Women's Game with my dad in '22 at LaBahn and left that game absolutely blown away by Simms ability with her stick. I told my dad on the way out that we had a future superstar on our hands. Glad to see her harnessing all that talent.

Yes it's really great to see that she's as good as we ever hoped she would be. The stuff we saw her do at the u18 and online as a high schooler was very impressive. Sometimes I wish she would dangle less and shoot more but I mean I'm just a old guy, I'm not sure I should be giving her any advice how to play the game lol.

Let's crack gopher skulls today ladies. Let's go red!

I don't see women's hockey, swimming and diving, or softball on this site (individually or under "athletics"). Did you see any way to make a sport-specific contribution on that site? Maybe I'm missing something.

I think you go with Ava she’s let only 1goal in against them
That's definitely the percentage move. At least early in his career when Johnson was rotating goalies, he stuck with the rotation through the WCHA tournament. It wasn't until the NCAA Tournament arrived that he would suspend the rotation and go with Jessie Vetter all the time.

With the score tied 1-1 in the third between Colgate and Cornell in the ECAC semi, Badger transfer Dara Greig had the second and third goals and an assist on the fourth goal for Colgate, in a 5-1 final.

Yay Dara!

BIG news.......Ava is in goal, and Murphy is back AND on a lesser note, Helgeson is back after being rumored out for the year, on the 4th line with fellow D Kotlowski and centered by Gorbatenko. There's no way the 4th line plays unless it's a blowout either way, though Gorbo will be heavily spot played as usual. Let's go RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
