Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2023-2024

I went to the UW web site at maybe a minute after 9 AM to get my Thursday ticket (not included with purchase of the Saturday ticket, which it should have been). Before buying Thursday, I checked on availability of Saturday tickets, and at the moment I was in, there were exactly THREE seats available. Of course, by the time I finished up the process of buying the Thursday ticket, Saturday tickets were gone.

WOW! I clicked immediately at 9:00, picked 5 seats that showed available, hit checkout and it said those seats were sold already. Entire place sold out in less than 2 minutes. Argh!!!!

Other games, other sports, I have seen tickets become 'available' later on. Like maybe somebody who bought realizes they have a conflict or whatever and turn them back in. But it's utterly random, and a pain to have to keep checking back.

Other possibilities are the SeatGeek and StubHubs of the world. And maybe check CraigsList-Madison for listings.

I just looked again (10:10 AM), for curiosity sake, and there were five of six available in two groups. Like I said, check back randomly...

That happened to me a few years ago. I was so mad. I missed the pre-order and then I was out of luck.

The biggest benefit to being a season ticket holder is that it ensures you will get the NCAA tickets, provided you pre-order on time.

There should also be some seats reserved for the team that wins on Thursday, and sometimes, those don't sell out via that program's ticket office. Both teams have a lot of Ontario kids, SLU has one from Mich., while PSU has a couple from Chicago Mission and a few from Minn. If there are any remaining from the reserved allotment, I wouldn't think they'd be available to sell by the Badgers ticket office before Friday evening. As you say, persistence is the best bet.

The comments by Curl and OB that I have listened to the last 24 hours or so have come across to me anyway as way over-confident. Overconfidence can lead to complacency and lack of effort. If they think they can just lace up the skates and beat PSU or St. L., we are all in for the saddest day ever in the history of LaBahn Saturday. Don't throw it away ladies, stay humble and work your tushies off as usual like you have something to prove, because you do.

Sounds like it was a volleyball-level shitshow trying to get tix.

Was in right and 9:00 and got tix - not great seats, but don't care.

Just fun to be in that place for an NCAA tourney game and we've been to most of them at LB.

Too bad the KC isn't avail or that they can't do the game on Sunday.

Would be cool to have it there and see what sort of crowd they'd draw for an NCAA game.

We did this earlier this year, the largest crowds at the KC for women's hockey. IIRC, other than the "Fill The Bowl" games, the largest crowd was for the 2011 quarterfinal vs Duluth, a crowd of 4000, and the 2007 multiple-OT quarterfinal vs Harvard, 5000 crowd.

The most recent "Fill The Bowl" was a loss to St Cloud, with not very much of a home-ice advantage, despite the 14K tickets sold (MANY went unused).

I'm not suggesting it for a greater home ice advantage. With the expansion of the field, we shouldn't need any additional help as long as the ladies show up with their best game.

Just think it would be cool and potentially fun - I was at that game against Harvard but can't recall if I was at the SCSU game.

There is far greater interest in women's sports than there was 15 years ago (see volleyball) and a small indication of that was the ticket scarcity this morning. Unless I'm remembering wrong, this home NCAA game used to be a pretty easy get as long as you were there for the on-sale. We never once got shutout and still haven't although maybe that was just luck this morning.

I believe a Beanpot game this year had 10k? Did I hear that right?

Not saying we'd get 10k but I bet we could have gotten 4-5k and keep everyone in the 100s and it could be a good atmosphere. Or not.

Obviously hard to argue with LaBahn and that atmosphere.

Ehhh... whatever. I'm in so was just a thought.

I’m relatively new to being more than a very casual fan of the Badgers, but I’m trying to catch up! Where can I find the comments by Curl and O’Brien?

Side note: I’ve had a really great time going to most of the home games this year, and have been enjoying following along on this thread, even though my account only got approved a few days ago!

How long were you waiting to get your account approved? I thought these days it was like instantaneous. It's not 1993 anymore lol.

Curls comments were made during the selection show and OB's comments were made post tosu victory. I think Simms also had some similar comments as well. It just strikes me as it's not how your typical athlete talks as far as their team performance and deflecting success in other directions. I'm sure MJ will have them in the right place in their heads for the big game this weekend I'm just being ultra paranoid.

We had been discussing O'B's future in the pro's and Ian Kennedy from the hockey news doesn't mention her at all even as an undrafted free agent let alone being drafted. He's not necessarily a deep research guy, he had made mistakes about UW's incoming recruiting class, but how does accidentally miss her when she has been front and center with Simms lately? Perhaps actually he sees her as not worthy. I tweeted at him about it. Let's see if he responds.....he did, that was fast.....since she has another year of eligibility left, she was not listed. I guess that makes sense.

It was months! I had no idea why I couldn’t post, until I finally emailed someone. Apparently my account was sent to some moderation black hole.

I was able to find video of O’Brien’s post-OSU remarks. I agree that she seems extremely confident, and I hope it’s not misplaced!

Anyone know if there is going to be TV coverage for the St. Lawrence - Penn State game? I can't find anything online about it, even ESPN+

I think it should be on BTN+ (streaming service of the host school) but I don't see it listed there yet.

The past two or three years, it has been the case that streaming rights for the first weekend have remained with the host team. For example, last year Wisconsin playing LIU and Colgate at Colgate was streamed on ESPN-Plus, while Quinnipiac playing at Ohio State was streamed on BTN-Plus (those games are still available in the BTN-Plus archive). It isn't unusual for such an 'unscheduled' game to take a while to show up on the BTN-Plus 'Event Calendar'.

Once a few years ago they locked my account for some reason and it took months to resolve it. I was going absolutely bananas.

No matter what, UW will be playing a Patty Katz Top 10 player Saturday, a big-time difference maker. That makes me nervous. Play tight d, no time and space, and stay out of the box. Let's go RED!
