Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Ok I decided to find info on the 5 incoming freshman this season at UW on my own and here is what I came up with:

Emily Clark, F - a 2 time member of the Canadian U-18 World Championship team (2012, 2013). Won 2 gold medals. Also a member of this years Canadian U-22 series team that competed last week in Calgary. Played her prep hockey at the Okanagan Hockey Academy. Seems to be the total package. Great in both ends of the ice.

Lauren Williams, D - played for the Whitby Wolves of the PWHL. Also played for Team Ontario Blue at the Canadian National Championships. Great size at 5'9. Will definitely be a great addition to the blue line.

Maddie Rolfes, D- a 2 time member of Team USA U-18 World Championship team (2013, 2014). won 2 silver medals. Played her prep hockey at Shattuck St. Mary's. A 4 time National Camp attendee. Great skater and has offensive punch from the back end.

Baylee Wellhausen, F - a 2 time member of Team USA U-18 World Championship team (2013, 2014) won 2 silver medals. Played her prep hockey at Shattuck St. Mary's. Had the highest single season point total at Shattuck (79) since Amanda Kessel. Also a 4 time National Camp attendee. Very hard worker to go along with high end talent.

Annie Pankowski, F - the cream of the crop of all the incoming freshman nationally. A member of last seasons USA National team. Was the final forward cut before the Olympics. A 3 time member of the USA U-18 team. Also a member of this summers USA U-22 team that competed in Calgary last week. Set all kinds of scoring records at NAHA over her years there. She should be an immediate impact player at UW and nationally this season.

This looks like a pretty exceptional group of players! Very excited to see this group progress and how each player is utilized by coach Johnson.. Should be a fun year!!
I would too but I don't think this person exists. I will volunteer to be that person, I just need some coin to finance the gig. :) Maybe Tristar Scoop can do some digging around for us. All I do it look up if they players have/had played for or at least been invited to tryout for the U teams of their countries, hence my interest on the previous posts in this thread. From reading various comments, as long as MJ is the coach one can almost assume UW will be loaded.

And a big thanks to Chuck and the 5th Q for all the info they provide!

Does anyone have any info on what is the best way to catch Badger Women's hockey games on line? Are they ever on TV?

Just in the last day or 2 a new product was launched called "College Sports Live". It's 9.95 a month or 99.95 a year and it gives you access to on-line streams for all home games for all participating schools. I believe this includes all the Big Ten schools. In the past you would buy "All-Access" and it would just be good for your school's home games. I have not been able to find a list of all the schools that are part of "College Sports Live" but they say it's over 100.

For away games at non-participating schools you still have to buy that school's video product. It's usually $9 or $10 for 24 hours or a month, something like that. For example, last year UMD was with "America One", St Cloud State was with "Stretch Internet", and UND was with "Jump TV". I wouldn't be surprised if these schools still have the same associations this year.

Occasionally a school offers free video like Mankato did last year.

Others may be able to add to this, or correct my errors!

It's a pretty good platform. The "College Sports LIVE" thing seems to be just a rebranding, but there are two big differences that I see over last year:

1) There is a mobile app now, so you can watch the games on your phone or tablet (thumbs up)
2) The 9.99 a month fee covers all of the participating schools now. It used to be 9.99 for just you school's home games and 14.99 if you wanted access to them all. They just have a 9.99 tier now which is nice.

I would love to see them work with Chromecast so I could stream these onto my TV.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Two things: Badgers are switching from CBS Sports to BTN and BTN 2Go. Don't buy the CBS package and waste your money.
Details here:http://www.uwbadgers.com/genrel/082814aaa.html

Also, I have new player profiles on the docket, but had to wait for the girls to get to campus. Now that school is in, I'll be setting those up and getting them out to you

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

How long of a walk would it be from LaBahn to the McClimon Complex? I'm thinking of doing a W hockey / M soccer double header 10/18.

I'm guessing McClimon is at least 30 minutes away on foot. It's right next to Lot 60 and the UW Hospital on the other end of campus compared to LaBahn.

Depending on how you go, two miles or a bit less; Two if you take the Lakeshore Path, but that's worth it if you can manage the extra time and distance, etc.

Probably 30 minutes with the most direct route. Leave from the west entrance of LaBahn, go up East Campus mall to Dayton street. Go west to the train tracks, and go along those diagonally north by Union South, then up that diagonal block of Johnson street. Then up the curved part of Babcock, and then that path behind the Babcock dairy store, through that parking lot. Then you cross Linden right as it curves north and becomes Elm. Then go west along Observatory drive to McClimon.

That's the fastest, most direct, closest to a beeline route you can take, and it'll be about 30 minutes at a pretty decent pace. (Possibly it's marginally quicker to go behind the poultry lab to cut through the parking lot, but that's a less-established route compared to the train tracks and behind-the-Babcock-Dairy-Store, and is a marginal gain for a very un-scenic route.) From Dayton and Mills to the point where you hit Observatory (Elm), it's actually pretty close to a straight diagonal line between the two points.

Any other route will be longer. If you want to go north, then west on Lakeshore Path, you'll get some nice scenery.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Thanks for the tips. I popped a map up and I see McClimon is very close to the Waismen Center and AF Children's Hospital, both places I have been to before with my daughter, so I am familiar with that area. I think we'll just drive over. I don't mind the 30 minute walk to, but after the soccer ends we'll just want to get home. We shall see.

I see Duggan is now an assistant coach with Clarkson. Good for her and better yet she's with a team from out east. I really wouldn't want a wcha team to have her on the staff. We usually sit behind the opposing bench on the glass, maybe if we bring some old UW programs along she'll sign them if we can get her attention when they play UW. That would be really cool. Just to be in her presence and have her stand in front of us will be a priviledge. She is/was a beast!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

1 week from today the ice shavings hit the boards. I'm hoping UW crushes Lindenwood like the old days with the additional firepower, but they have an excellent goalie, so I'm thinking the scores will be similar to last year. The most important thing is to get some chemistry going before they play the dawgs as things build up to the what is assumed to be 2 titanic battles with our neighbors to the west on the 17th and 18th.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Next weekends games at Lindenwood will also be played without Turnball, Debiens, Clarke, Channell, and Nurse. These 5 will be at the Hockey Canada Festival.. A chance for others to step up and show what they can do.. It should be interesting!

Wisconsin wins by 3+ each game
Wisconsin out shoots LU by 2-1 margin each game
Every UW freshman gets a point over weekend with Wellhausen and Pankowski getting 3 or better
