Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Nos. 1-4: all WCHA teams - average attendance 1784
No. 22: BC - average attendance 269

http://www.uscho.com/stats/attendance/division-i-women/2013-2014/

269 seems high, sadly. It must be inflated by the Skate with the Eagles games. A lot of the time there's probably barely 100 people there. A real shame.

Yeah it's sad. It's just not something anyone cares about out here. You'd think even BU would get some decent numbers with hockey being their only real sport but no one out here cares. ESPECIALLY BC, with the free convenient parking, being outside the city, and free, making the tournament almost every year, putting players in the Olympics... it should be drawing some kind of a crowd, but there's just no interest.

Did Cornell have some kind of 'fill the arena' game? My guess is no, and 1k fans per game is damn impressive. I know UNH used to pull those kinds of numbers regularly.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Is Desbiens any good? Miller is ok, way overrated coming into her freshman year.

Desbiens had a .957 save percent with a 1.06 goal against last year. She played in 12 games, started 11, when Rigsby was injured mid-season. 11-1 won-loss record.

So she didn't quite have enough minutes played to 'qualify' in the national statistics rankings, but if she had qualified, she would have led the nation in both categories.

Yeah, she's OK.

(WOW! Was that a serious question?)

I thought this post in the men's thread has relevance to be here as well:

Hi Everyone

I (KaMiGo) am pleased to announce that I will be serving on this year's UW Fan Advisory Committee.

We had our first meeting last night and learned of some interesting changes and developments that are coming (this meeting was geared mostly towards football/Camp Randall developments). We are anticipating that the next meeting (in November) will be hosted at the Kohl Center and will be geared more towards the winter sports. I was also encouraged to seek out feedback from other fans.

I would love to gather some feedback from this community on things that you think are going well, things that aren't going well, and any constructive criticism that you might have. I can't guarantee that everything that you want to be discussed will make it into the agenda. I also can't guarantee that all of the changes that you ask for will be implemented. I can guarantee that I will take the feedback from this group and do my best to relay those items to the Athletic Department, either during open discussions at the meetings or via one-on-one conversations with members of the administration.

A few things that were already hit on:
The current food/beverage contract is still in place and the beverages will still be provided from the Dr Pepper/Snapple group and will primarily consist of RC Cola, Diet RC Cola, Dr Pepper, Diet Dr Pepper, 7-Up, A&W Rootbeer, Snapple.
The age limit for concession workers has been lowered to 16 and that is where it will remain. Previous vendor had an age limit of 12.
The decision about providing alcohol service to the general masses at sporting events is not an Athletic Department decision, that comes from the University Administration.
They are trying to walk the fine line of updating/refreshing the pregame intro video/music clips while maintaining some of the traditional elements. They didn't say that Enter Sandman would be coming back to the hockey pregame package, but noted that there was a large amount of support for bringing it back...

Feel free to post any feedback here or I have created a temporary e-mail address that you can send things to (UWFanAdvisory at gmail dot com).

Just for some perspective. Desbiens was in 3 games against teams with winning records (Northeastern and 2 against North Dakota). Wisconsin was 2-1 in those games. 7 of the 12 goals she allowed were scored in those games for a 2.33 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

The UND game she lost she allowed 4 goals. The team played bad in front of her, I don't think Rigsby could have done much better.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Will Labahn actually get painted?......Here's the response from the Fan Advisory Rep from an email I sent in regards to painting Labahn and having the band at the games:

Hi Tim
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
I can tell you that the topic of the looks inside of buildings, especially Labahn, was discussed. They are looking into options for either new paint our putting up some sort of hockey decorations (posters, banners, murals).
And with how much they want to push the "game day experience", I will make sure to mention getting a larger/more consistent band presence.
Thanks for your feedback
Kaleb

They made the "It's A Great Day For Hockey" quote on the north end black instead of really light chrome.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Speaking, er, typing of progress, I contacted the Bucky's Lockeroom mgr the other day to see if it was still in the plans to sell women's jerseys and YES they will be, in October. He said the "red" ones would be available. I didn't press him if the white/home would be also, I'm just happy that I can get either of the 2. Happy belated birthday me!
