Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?

Re: Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?

The difference between UConn, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech is .

...that Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech are recognized as top-notch academic institutions, and UConn isn't.

Also, if your strongest argument in football is "We suck less than Indiana," you might want to downgrade your optimism. Maybe go with "We have the third best Husky football program in FBS!" or "As far as football goes, we have a really good women's basketball team!"

I don't know why anybody would want to troll him.
Thank you. Some people don't have the ability to have constructive conversations.

Ex-SEC commissioner Roy Kramer conducted the feasibility study regarding UConn upgrading football. Guess what he said? UCONN holds a large number of similarities to SEC schools. Welcome to the era of large public schools. Everywhere else in the country was ahead of the Northeast in submitting themselves to public schools before the Northeast. Must be great to have noses up in the air for such an accomplishment. Without Yale, Harvard, Princeton and whoever else (even Rutgers), your present form of entertainment wouldn't be there.

It is very likely none of the ACC schools are leaving. And if you question whether UConn is a respected academic institution, look who we joined before Ohio State and UMD.

"Universitas 21 is the leading global network of research-intensive universities, working together to foster global citizenship and institutional innovation through research-inspired teaching and learning, student mobility, connecting our students and staff, and wider advocacy for internationalisation."

Arrogance blinds. When was the last time the B1G won a championship in football? Gee, I wonder. Either way, those of you here who want to look down on me or UConn and have nothing else going on in their lives besides being a fan of an athletic program of a very large public school and lack reading comprehension have no decision making power. Thankfully.

Nick, keep being obsessed with UConn's message board. I know it's a hobby of yours. I was using Indiana as proof that people in Connecticut do take an interest in their own state. No other reason.

Ha seriously. That might be the best Butchy quote of all... for now.

And there's been some gems by Butchy is this thread.

"People act as if the state of CT is irrelevant in football. The game was codified very heavily by a man from here. And Yale has more championships than anyone else, besides Princeton."

"And we do have some football history. We have players in the first decade of the NFL."

"But the stadium is expandable to 50K+."

"We may be new at the FBS level, but have been playing football since 1896. That's as long as Michigan State."

"From a hockey perspective, UConn would be a slam dunk for the B1G"

"We've also have had 5 coaches who played for B1G schools"

"Minnesota has a stadium that seats 50K."

I am sorry I even revive this thread. But will admit you guys are good comedy. Just had to say sweatpants' retort of "MAC" is hilarious. We do have ACC and B1G fans fighting on our message board. We'll see what happens. The Hockey East certainly is very nice.

Butchy, I hear you had a dream the other day. Were you ever able to exchange that girl you won in a contest for a Uconn B1G invite from Delaney? Or were you really just trying to exchange her for a guy?

Talk about "good comedy."

Of course, you would bring in some homoerotic perception. I understand it's part of your upbringing. I posted that because I thought it was amusing, too. And I didn't say Delany. The person had no name. Do you like it that way?

Although revenue sharing is def the way to go. Still feel that if you don't even bother putting a team in a sport...that you shouldn't be sharing for that sport. It pays teams to drop a sport...not add.

They only sport that makes serious money would be football. Last I looked the whole conference is fielding a team.

Since JHU is in for lacrosse as an affiliate, I say North Dakota is the next one. Certainly is a bold prediction, yes.

If it wanted to, UNL could try to play where the USHL's Stars do. Holds 5,000. Getting dates and competing with them are problematic, of course, but they don't need to wait on this project (in theory).

While that might be a move that would make sense for hockey, that's just not likely to happen. John Hopkins got in not because they're a great Lacrosse program, but because they're a leading researching and medical teaching university, and the Big Ten Presidents wanted to add them into the CIC, expanding that little block of researching and funding dollars all the more. Also probably opens up a few slots at JHU for the top Doctor candidates at the other Big Ten schools as well. North Dakota doesn't have nearly the national and even Global status of a leading university as what JHU has.
