Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?

Re: Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?

Largest market without a professional sports franchise in the US, and has been so for quite awhile. UConn has decent penetration into NY (SNY holds their TV rights) and when it comes to M&W basketball they are New England's Team. No other team comes close.
They're Connecticut's teams. The rest of us could give two bleeps.

UConn basketball (men's and women's) has a nation-wide fanbase. I am sure the rest of you could give two bleeps about Rutgers and Maryland.

So, we give as bleeps about Rutgers and Maryland as we do about UCONN. Sounds right.

Do they have fans across the nation? Sure, like virtually every team. It was asserted that UConn's are the teams that all of New England is behind. That just isn't true, no matter how much you'd like it to be. And the fact they have won NC's when other New England schools haven't doesn't mean a hill of beans to a lot of people when they declare their loyalties.

Then I guess your opinions are worthless to the B1G.
I don't believe anything to the contrary has been stated.

Whenever I need a good laugh I just go to this thread and read Butch's comments. Keep waiting by that phone Butch, maybe the MAC will come calling!

Re: Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?

No other Big 10 team is adding ice hockey in the near future. Time to end this thread.

Simmer down, skippy.
Not sure you saw the post I was reacting to. It was removed by the moderator. But while we are on the topic of simmering down, what's with the 25,000 posts? Do you have a life or is posting on this board it?

Except Rutgers and Maryland have not visited the White House recently.
Just as a reminder, in contrast to UConn which has been twice in two years, both men and women. :D

I saw the post, I see no reason to get all huffy and puffy about a phrase that was obviously being used in reference to when it was used in the first place. Don't get your panties in a wad over something so stupid.

The post count argument? That means you automatically lose. Go to bed.

I think the removal was a little knee-jerk. I didn't consider the original post to be racist. It was a reference to the Imus/Rutgers controversy, and to the extent it used a racist term, it was mocking and quoting Imus. But, it's USCHO's site, so it's their call.
