Relating to my current trip home to MN
1. Just like last year when I visited I woke up around 3 a.m. and haven’t been back to sleep
2. Staff in Ohare neglecting (from my best guess) to load one of our 4 checked backs onto the flight to MSP
I submitted a claim yesterday around 2 p.m. at MSP and later checked the status online only to find out the staff member that took down my bag information got the description completely wrong. The only thing he managed to get right is the color red. Otherwise the bag is hard-sided not soft, does not have zippers but 3 clasps and the brand is not YY but Samsonite. How the eff are their staff supposed to locate the correct item if they don’t even know what they’re looking for?
On top of that they keep asking me stupid questions relative to what might have happened even after I have calmly and clearly described the timeline of events.
My son and I checked 4 items in Manila. We flew MNL > Seoul > Chicago > MSP. All 4 items showed up in ORD and we had to then personally re-check them after leaving customs for the flight to MSP. Only 3 showed up.
They’ve asked questions that allude to wondering if all 4 bags didn’t make it to ORD and I have explained at least twice now that I know for a fact all 4 made it there because they were not automatically transferable and we had to physically re-check them ourselves after leaving customs. After one of the calls the call handler finally said, “We will notify staff in Chicago to look for the item”. Wait, what? Why was that not the first freaking thing you did since I made it abundantly clear the bag is 99% sure to be IN CHICAGO?!?
They asked a few other stupid questions that make me question if they’re paying attention, even wondering if the bag tag fell off which if you’ve ever flown know how wickedly difficult it is to remove one.
I have called back 3 times because I check the online status ever few others and the online description has yet to be corrected. I have remained polite, patient and cordial in all cases to this point but I am about to lose my shit. I’ve never had lost luggage before and I am going to be here a month so I don’t just have a weekend’s worth of stuff.
I had with me every day clothes, travel clothes, work clothes, every day toiletries, an electric shaver, vitamins, etc. They did mention if necessary I can go buy replacement items and submit receipts for reimbursement (which I am sure will be a tightly handled, quick and efficient process) at a reasonable amount, but no one can answer what is deemed reasonable. The bag alone was over $250 bought several years ago.
