What The Fark 6: FARK OFF!

This just popped up on my FYP on TikTok (not sure why, but it's interesting).

A woman is working with a journalist to confirm that one single man may be single handedly (heh) responsible for 500+ sperm donor births.

There is an alarming rate of people who are showing up as being half- related to this single donor. He apparently sold his sperm to at least three different donor banks.

*edit* One of the big issues is that once the sperm is donated, there is no updated medical history. So generic defects, genetic traits, anything that could cause future health issues is never relayed.

Also, how capitalism has powered this.

I understand the lack of medical history reporting is an issue, but that doesn't really seem to be an issue with this case then as much as it would be with the whole process. Is there supposed to be some legal max to the number of kids a given donor can be used for? I guess I'm not really seeing the issue there.

Nope. No max. This guy could theoretically keep spreading his seed until he's spitting dust. And getting paid to do so.

So what? Plenty of single moms have none of the estranged father’s medical history.

If you can’t figure out that this is going to be the situation when you go to buy sperm, then maybe you shouldn’t procreate.

I didn't think there were legal maximums. But I thought this was generally frowned upon and self-regulated to prevent uhhhh. Over-densification of the gene pool.

I vaguely recall this happening a year or two ago and I am pretty sure I read that some/most (?) sperm banks cap it at a certain number.

A typographer is the star witness in proving that the Pakistan PM forged documents backdating his ownership of property in London.
